Both bands are coming to play in Toronto starting next week, and I only have $40 to spare for one ticket to either concert.

I'm kicking myself in the balls for missing testament last year when they were in the Judas Priest show, since that would've solved my problem already.

I love both bands equally and tickets cost just about the same (for locals or people who've been to the venues at Toronto, Opeth is playing at the opera house (gets about 800 people in there) so it's pretty damn intimate, and Testament is rockin it at the Sound Academy (formerly known as the docks), I've never been to the latter.)

So long story short, I leave it up to the people of the Nevermore forum, because there is no better band forum to decide this for me.

Testament by a million. I'm totally over Opeth and have no idea why they're everyone's OMFGFAVORITE band.

I might've gone to their show to see Enslaved, but Stephen Lynch is the same night and I can't possibly miss him. <3<3<3

i only really ever listen to My Arms, Your Hearse and The Gathering. i would probably just stay home and listen to Gojira and take bong rips or something.

Go with who you like more, definitely, but Opeth can be quite an unwieldy live band. The first time I saw them, they decided to play only the obscure songs on all their albums, i.e., the filler. I was fucking pissed.

Mike is pretty damn funny and entertaining, though, and it's amazing to hear him growl and sing live.

For a sure thing, go to Testament. For curiosity, go to Opeth.
