So I love Opeth, and I love their last album. They are performing tonight here

I want to go but.........

IT COSTS 35 EUROS (50 $ approx)

Should I go?Do they deserve such a pricy ticket?Thanks

I think you would be hard pressed to find a band as professional on stage as Opeth... Undoubtedly there's other fantastic live bands out there, but Opeth ranks very, very high.

I saw them at Sweden Rock a couple of years ago and found them incredibly boring. They played a song, tuned for three minutes, Mike mumbled something and then then played another song, tuned for three minutes and so on.
Judging from that gig, I personally would spend my money elsewhere :)

If you are just a casual listener, I probably would not. If you love the band though, especially their last few albums - don't pass it up. They aren't the most interesting people to watch perform, but they are excellent live.

Opeth really aren't a festival band...

They don't move a lot on stage but other than that I saw them a couple of times and each time it was amazing. They always have a pristine sound too and Mikes humour is hilarious, I'd say go for it!

drunkard I hope you decided to go!

I saw them a couple of hours ago (Thessaloniki) and THEY WHERE IMMEASURABLY AWESOME!

Incredible performance and sound!

What an amazing band...:headbang:

Hey man...Dont get confussed.I am from Thessaloniki also. :)

So the band was really awesome.Great sound(those BOSS GT-6 are really so good???),great playing

Bad things was that they played like 1 hour and 30 minutes and that in 2 songs they made a mistake and didnt play them at all:ill:

But I gotta say I enjoyed them and I think its about time I plug my guitar and nail out Deliverance. Thanks everyone

PS again ,IS THIS BOSS DEVICE SO GOOD?????

Glad to hear you went!
I have seen them quite a few times in the past, they've always been much better in the clubs than on festivals.

When they came to Germany last December I had the chance to see them twice in a row with Cynic (Berlin and Hamburg) and even that was worth it!
Also cool to see that Mikael did completely different jokes on the two shows... I briefly talked to Tymon (Cynic) and he confirmed that Mikael really never recycles his jokes.

About the Boss GT6, well obviously they make it work, so it has potential. It's not easy to dial in though. I own the GT10 and GT5 and still prefer to slave my ENGLs preamp in via 4-cable-method. But Opeth don't do that, they just use the Boss sound straight to the power amp.

Saw them twice, once on the ghost reveries tour, once for the watershed tour (but i went for Cynic :D)

Much preferred the show from the GR tour. They were tighter, bigger, whateverer the second time round but the setlist the first time I saw them just made it

Blackwater Park then Demon of the Fall for encore anyone? I pretty much came when they played BWP. Seriously.

I've seen Opeth live many times, beginning in 2001, and they are fantastic. By far one of the best live bands I've ever seen, and absolutely deserving of money. It's not like they get rich doing this - they do it because they love it, just like any of us here.

Opeth is not in a hurry. You don't go to an Opeth show with the expectation of constant songs, or some sort of choreographed, synchronized "show." It's a more relaxed atmosphere, and they are a throwback to an era where people had better attention spans - where the full-length album was the central unit of the musical experience. Turn off your cell phone, enjoy the music. :)
