...you listen to some mediocre metal like Machine Head immediately before it. I just noticed this while driving in my car and playing different CDs. Sure, bands like MH have their moments, but Opeth's albums just make anything else sound boring.
that's it...forgive me for being a stupid fanboy
;)

OK - you're forgiven

Opeth is my favorite band. But I like plenty of other songs out there - plenty.

Currently I am into a few songs that I can't stop listening to: System Of A Down-Streamline and PuddleOf Mudd-Drift and Die. Talent wise, these two songs in no way compare to Opeth, but to my ear, I love these songs. Also, I love Prophet Of The Last Eclipse by Luca Turilli. And listening to that song over and over, there is definately talent. When I listen to my mixes in the car, I can listen to SOAD and Puddle Of Mudd, and then The Drapery Falls and notice a huge disparity in my evaluation of talent. But when I listen to Luca Turilli, the disparity isn't as large. I guess I'm not as quick to call other bands mediocre - you FAN BOY.

of course, the difference between listening to one of my other favourites like, say, Primordial and listening to Opeth isn't as huge as with Machine Head!;)

There are a few other bands like Pain of Salvation, Nevermore and Symphony X that have made plenty of discs in my collection nothing more then buy back material.

the latest luca turilli is great,so is the latest symphony X,and liquid tension experiment is kickass also.

machine heads first two albums rule by the way,and the last two dont do anything for me.
