Guess who's back?

OBITUARY's forthcoming album will be a self-titled affair, according to the group's record label, Roadrunner Records. The group's first collection of new songs since 1997's "Back from the Dead" was self-produced by the band, with Mark Prator and Scott Burns engineering, and was mastered by Tom Morris at Morrisound. A July 12 release date (one day earlier internationally) is expected.

I'm not a DM fan, but memories of the "Slowly We Rot" days are so good. And who knows?, maybe Tardy finally learnt to sing

Nice!! I've been looking forward to this album, as i'm a big fan of their first two albums, and the fact that their guitarist decribed the album as "Hellhammer Influenced", and if anyone's been paying attention, i am a very big fan of the band Hellhammer. I can't wait.

Can't wait to hear this. I saw Obituary live last year at a Jersey metal fest alongside Testament and Vital Remains. They were phenomenal. Looking foward to the new album, sounds promising.

Holy shit, that sounds good!

My memories of SWR aren't as good, y'know... ;)
But "Cause Of Death" and "The End Complete" are total classics! :headbang:
I especially dig COD because of James Murphy's ingenious playing. :worship:
The rest of their catalogue hasn't impressed me one tiny bit, so I don't really care about their reunion.

Why would he like to sing? God forbid! :tickled:
I really like his "vomiting" vocals, very unique style in death metal, where everybody else tends to do very deep grunts...

I love Murphy with Testament and his solo albums, but I don't follow him to death because...

...I hate growling!

I wouldn't mind talking about some Entombed, Banished, Suffocation, Funebre, etc., but I always felt discouraged given the crowd in this forum...

I think you're talking it negatively DG. Just because people like Greeno and me positively hate growlers doesn't mean the rest can't appreciate good OS death metal.
I'm sure nice intelligent threads can be made regarding Death, Obituary, Suffocation, Entombed, Dismember, Possesed, Sepultura, Carcass, Cancer, Disincarnate, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Benediction, Malevolent Creation, Transmetal, and my former passion Cannnibal Corpse. :D

P.S And many other bands I forgot at this time.

Yeah, "Slowly We Rot" is the only Obituary album I dig too. I hope Tardy finally will write some lyrics forthe new one :tickled:

Don't get me wrong, I don't dig it  But the time when that album came out (and many more) was a great time for me and friends. Years gone by that will not come back, so memories are sweet (unlike SickBoy ones :p ).
