safe but not far from the city
so every forum got at least one, and what are we? destined to scrub the floors? :p

it's not as if i have anything smarter than that to say at the moment: it's 4am in the morning. discuss away. shoo! :)

I'm not planning to waste my bandwidth or money in that album, even if it turns out to be good (which I think it won't) I wouldn't buy it cause I'm not into speedmetal anymore.

I wasted my bandwidth, it's better than the other stuff
they made lately. Lyrics seem to be a bit like Kill 'Em All,
singing around black album and playing, well, ok, I figure.

Wouldn't spend my money on this one tho and most
likely won't spend a CD on it either.

I saw the video and well, that's enough. I lost interest in Metallica when Jason left the band.

Terrible music, terrible recording, terrible lyrics.
Bob Rock (their producer) credited as a musician for Metallica? I thought pop stars has producers to write their music.

*shuts up*
I know I've listed Metallica as my favourite band somewhere on here, and that's still the case... However, after 5 years I've grown sick to death of discussing them and/or their music... So I'm saying this just to not say anything ;)
But I did spend money on the cd, and I don't feel as bad about it as I had expected. So there :p

On a side note, did anyone else feel slightly nervous bout a prettyboy like Kirk walking round a maximum security prison for convicted rapists, killers and nutcases of the highest order? ;)
I talk of course of the 'St Anger' video by the way...

i wasted a cd on st. anger. i gave it several listens trying to find a reason to think of it as a decent album but i failed. no, actually they failed.

the drums' sound is the most annoying thing i heard in ages.

Prettyboy? Kirk? He's as ugly as life...

Anyhow, Metallica never interested me, and neither do they after St. Anger. Sounds ok, but it doesn't do anything for me. Whoever got the idea for the snare sound should be shot.

in my opinion, the fact that the production is purposely sucky is just a funny aside to how bad this record is.
i mean, on this table we have exhibit a, a terrible record without a single good or new, passable idea, overlong songs based on the repetition of a boring structure we've heard a million times before, absolutely no guitars whatsoever, hilariously childish lyrics about pubescent rage all kept together by three hundred thousand gazillion minutes of bluesy bridges.
then, on this other table, we have exhibit b, the fact that some sicko in metallica's management (or the label's) decided that to please the older fans of a rougher, thrashier sound, they had to tune down the production level, possibly expecting thousand of fifteen years old to squeal in glee, saying "finally metallica sound like they are close to their thrashy, garage roots by putting out a record my mother would have scolded me for listening to!!!!".
now, it's not that the sound is not perfect or approximative. i don't really mind that. after listening to st. anger i had to make a playlist of old kreator songs (pleasure to kill era) just to avoid fainting. they were poorly played and poorly mixed and absolutely awfully recorded, but they still rock my [bender]shiny metal ass[/bender].

You know something's going to be terribly wrong when a band hires Bob fucking Rock in order to get a "garage-style" production. I mean, record in a fucking garage instead.

i actually convinced someone to DL that album for me so i wouldn't have to use my bandwidth :)
first impression: omg is that a snare drum? or a keg?
second impression: aaaargh
