our very own st. anger thread

I heard the song 'St. Anger', and it is annoying as hell. not going to buy it, and probably won't download it. I don't need to worry about a bandwidth cap though... I don't have one, or at least it's above 450 gigs per month (the most I've used). I wouldn't be able to survive wit ha 15 or 25 gig cap... maybe 100 if I stopped ftp/fserve...

maybe a bit exaggerated in some parts. maybe not.

Well, I thought this album was just a proof of decadence, but now that Miolo has posted that link above, my opinion has changed substantially. St. Anger has a reason to exist, a purpose in God's creation: to feed those men whose blood thirst can't let them live in optimal conditions. I love that review, so to make a long story short, this is the essence of the review:

"A drummer for my old band couldn’t tune his drums. Each time we would press him to learn to tune them he told us “Lars Ulrich can’t tune his own drums either. He’s had the same guy doing it for 20 years"

|ng (Can't stop laughing)

OMG!!!! the review given by Miolo is probably the hardest review towards a band since the electronic version of La Macarena...just check this...

"How can the people who brought us “Creeping Death” do this? They know what real metal is. They know what their rabid fans want. I predicted that if this album was “Master of Puppets 2,” the world would embrace Metallica again. If this album was “Reloaded,” the world would continue calling them sellouts. This album doesn’t make you do either; it just makes you pity them for what they’ve become. "

heheehhehe

well as FOR ME...i've downloaded the album....haven't heard it, cause at work I can't and at home, well, i'm afraid mel will make me sleep on the sofa!!! :p

I was a superfan of Metallica...I also bought the Live Shit box back in 1994...I even bought (despite of the horrible rumours) Load in 1996 but after seeing the booklet and hearing the music the amazement towards Metallica started crumbling. And yes, Load and Reload are not SO CRAPPY...but they ARE crappy if you consider them to come from the Masters themselves...

For now i've just seen the album cover...it really sucks, but at least they don't have the METALLICA logo on it, which makes me feel possitive towards it...i don't know why! :)

i'll tell you when i read it!!!!

so for now...cheers

HAHA... That got a good laugh out of me. The faces are hilarious!

I think the album is just ok. They did try too hard to sound raw though. I don't know why they couldn't just put out a metal album. And Hetfield almost sounds like the singer from Red Hot Chillie peppers when he does clean vocals now, and I can't stand that guy.

i've only heard whatever song it is they're playing on the radio here. was sitting in the chair at the salon getting my hair colored the other day and one of the stylist asked me if i liked the new Metallica. i said i haven't even heard it yet and wasn't sure if i wanted to. she said Metallica was playing and i went....NO WAY! haha. oh well, i didn't like that particular song i was hearing at the time. meh. i don't think Jaymez sounded anything like A.K. though. what's wrong with A.K.? i think he's the schizz.

It's pretty damn sad. Mid-life crisis geezer rockers trying to be hardcore now after failing at being alternative. I made fun of Load/Reload as much as anybody, but in all honesty I could've picked maybe 4 or 5 songs off load and a couple off of reload and put them together and I think have a pretty decent hard rock/alternative/soft metal/whatever album in the vein of Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Corrosion Of Conformity, Danzig, Kyuss, and whatever other bands they were into and seemingly aping imo at the time and it would be better than the made-for-radio/MTV black album as a whole, but this latest batch of "noise" has NO redeeming value whatsoever. Horrible songs, production, singing, lyrics, everything. Even the fucking album cover sucks. And they give a shout out to their group therapist in the credits. How fucking sweet. I think I'm gonna cry. <puke> Hetfield apparently lost whatever little remained of his talent and inspiration when he gave up the coke and whiskey.
And I LMFAO at all of these Entombed references i've been hearing about and i still don't know what they meant by them after listening to this shit. When Metallica started trend-jumping years ago, too bad they didn't jump on the goth-metal or NWOSHM bandwagon. The results might've been less embarassing at the very least. Paradise Lost's Draconian Times is STILL the best Metallica album Metallica never made.

 entombed burping loudly in an elevator speeding up a 200-storey skyscraper while people discuss gonhorrea and a malnourished child somehow recording the result on a tape previously used to store a "best of the bee gees" compilation would actually sound much better than st. anger. comparisons between the bands as of now? that's impossible.

rahvin.

I'm hardcore PL fan, but Draconian Times or any PL album has too much of a "euro" feel IMO for Metallica to ever go in that direction. Anyways just wanted to say that.
Oh yea, St. Anger blows by the way, dumb ass attempt to sound "garage" again it fucking blows plain and simple.

well, they had some pretty cool ideias, but they screwd it up. but not only metallica members, bob rock is the most responsible (sp?) for this shity sound. and they should have made the musics shorter (aka less annoying) and the album shorter, IMO.

PS: my fisrt post here :p
