It's pretty damn sad. Mid-life crisis geezer rockers trying to be hardcore now after failing at being alternative. I made fun of Load/Reload as much as anybody, but in all honesty I could've picked maybe 4 or 5 songs off load and a couple off of reload and put them together and I think have a pretty decent hard rock/alternative/soft metal/whatever album in the vein of Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Corrosion Of Conformity, Danzig, Kyuss, and whatever other bands they were into and seemingly aping imo at the time and it would be better than the made-for-radio/MTV black album as a whole, but this latest batch of "noise" has NO redeeming value whatsoever. Horrible songs, production, singing, lyrics, everything. Even the fucking album cover sucks. And they give a shout out to their group therapist in the credits. How fucking sweet. I think I'm gonna cry. <puke> Hetfield apparently lost whatever little remained of his talent and inspiration when he gave up the coke and whiskey.
And I LMFAO at all of these Entombed references i've been hearing about and i still don't know what they meant by them after listening to this shit. When Metallica started trend-jumping years ago, too bad they didn't jump on the goth-metal or NWOSHM bandwagon. The results might've been less embarassing at the very least. Paradise Lost's Draconian Times is STILL the best Metallica album Metallica never made.
