You know that this is called Halo-phenomenon? A rainbow is never around or in front of the sun. Be proud that you have seen this. Not many people can say that they have ever seen a Halo. I've read an article about it and if I remember right, it can be seen ca. 1 time in a week in north europe

I was going to say "really?" until I remembered that the majority of the world's population likely doesn't live anywhere near where the conditions are right for this to happen.
I've seen it multiple times here, so it can't be that rare.
