Pain of Salvation and Anathema

i LOVE anathema's alternative 4 album, theres some really emotional stuff on there. get inner silence. it is a goddamn AWESOME song

Anathema are one of the greatest bands ever to do anything!!

Their last four albums are all amazing. 'Alternative 4' is a good recommendation, and 'Judgement', 'Eternity' and 'A Fine Day to Exit' are all incredible too.

Check out the Anathema forum!!

They used to be a doom band, but the last 4 albums have moved into a genre of their own. And as far as tracks are concerned, check out:

Inner Silence (Alt. 4)
Temporary Peace (A Fine Day..)
One Last Goodbye (Judgement)

Then go out and buy all the albums!

Pain Of Salvation are great! Check out their newest album "Remedy Lane". I don't want to pick songs, since you have to listen to the whole album to discover their great music. Check it out!

Anathema are a great band, you can hear a variation of heaviness musically across their discography, but the heaviness of their message stays the same :)
From the mid-range of heaviness, Restless Oblivion and A Dying Wish are a couple of personal favs. Their latest albums have great songwriting.

pain of salvation: "remedy lane", then "one hour by the concrete lake". and, from "the perfect element", i'd suggest ashes, used, in the flesh and king of loss.

anathema: hard to choose, really. but i love "judgement".

hope this helps :)

To listen to the whole of a Pain of Salvation album is important!
They are so original, that many people are turned off by one song
at a time. They have concepts in their albums, which requires
a calm environment, hopefully you'll sit and read the lyrics while
listening through a set of headphones.

Anathema is also great, my favorite album is Judgement.

Yeah, I definitely say check out Anathema's "Alternative 4". That's probably my favourite album followed by "Judgement".

Ok, it's time that I checked out PoS more. I think I'll try to order "Remedy Lane" from The End. I figure if I'm going to be seeing them in 3 months I should be more familiar with their music. :)

PoS, Arcturus and Opeth are tied as my favourite bands :)

Wow, that's cool.

My favorite band is Pain Of Savlation (only band that can surpass Opeth for me...the poetic and artistic abilities of PoS--for me (might be different for others) can't be matched by anyone).

My second favorite is Opeth...ahh opeth...ahh sweet, sweet opeth.

Third favorite is Arcturus.

You, sir, have great taste in music :)

Oh, and, on a side note, Anathema kicks ass--go out and buy Judgement. Fine Day To Exit is great also :)

It seems to happen, that in every second post from me I have to say that Pain of Salvation are godly. Will that happen this time? It already has. Will I ever stop? Stop kiddin' ;)
I recommend every album from them, though you might be not very pleased by Entropia because the production isn't as top notch as the others.
Well, Anathema... they are geniuses! Get JUDGEMENT !!! (Listen to it with headphones, loud. It will blow your soul apart for a few seconds... ) as well as Leave No Trace and Lost Control, Pressure, Release and Regret.

Dragn, have you visited the Pain of Salvation message board?

I have a faint memory of a DragnSOMETHING... ;)

All POS fans should take a look! Check my sig.

I used to hang out on dt.net forum a bit, before it was closed down. You prolly heard the name from from there.

Yeah, I actually have the PoS messageboard bookmarked as one of my "music-related" pages, along with chedsey.com, basementbar.com, progpages.com, etc. I go there every couple of days.

The thing is, I very rarely post on the messageboards that I look at--unless there's something unique, such as someone having the same 3 fav bands as me. I mainly just read them as a method to become to exposed to new bands, expand my musical horizons, n' such. I think I have yet to make any posts at all on PoS forum.
Oh well, maybe i'll start one of these days :)

(you never miss an opportunity to promote the PoS forum, now do you? =P =P :))
