Wow, I can't stop listening to this cd, I wish I would've found out about Agalloch sooner rather than a month ago. The cd, especially tracks 5-7 absolutely own my ass. I can't say the same for The Mantle though, it's a little too slow and monotonous at times but Odal and I am The Wooden Doors are terrific. Hopefully it'll grown on me more. Who else is going to the Seattle show on Friday?

Thanks to those who have created posts about the band on here, otherwise I never would of found out about them.

I will be at the Seattle show

And to think I was just about to start a thread on this......

I'm sorry, but what's the big Bruhaha about Agalloch been for over the last few months... I mean, I just got their complete discography.... and the only albums to even mildly get my attention were the latest two efforts... the previous ones were actually IMHO, below par.

I might consider spinning up The Mantle and whatever the other one was again, but DEFINITELY no the older stuff.... it's all so......average.

If I'm missing something... please, enlighten me.

Errr...they have only released 2 full length albums and one E.P.

And as for the topic, well...Pale Folklore kicks ass! I like The Mantle more as a whole album, but there are a couple of individual tracks on Pale Folklore that are somewhat better than songs on The Mantle.

They've only made 2 full length albums, 1 EP and a demo. I don't see how you can consider Pale Folklore to be average but to each his own. I love the folk style guitar work, the dark and poetic lyrics are great and the whispery growl vocals fit the music perfectly. I love the cold wintery landscape the cd continues to paint throughout each track. The cd is especially great to listen to with headphones on, you really get the full effect and hear everything.
