Just got a Palmer Daccapo to replace my Radial X-Amp.
The X-Amp put out a really low volume, even when I fired 0DBFS at it.
With the Palmer I can send it -14DBFS and get the same level as directly plugging the guitar into the amp with no noise.

Highly recommend it and it's cheap (in Europe)
Much better than the X-Amp which IMO is badly designed.
The transformer drops the signal far too much.
The Radial ProRMP apparently requires a mod to get get level but the Palmer puts out perfect level. I can even use the gain control on the box to raise or lower the level. With the X-Amp I had to leave the gain up full.
Also has switch for -10 and +4 if your interface puts out a low level.
Very very happy with this box.

Yep, great output. I just leave it at 0 (12 o'clock) and the level is the same as if I plug the guitar. Actually, I like to push the level a tiny bit depending on the tone I like to achieve.

I have no experience with others, though but I'm happy with this one. And it's cheap here.

Not transformer, but circuit itself, transformer used on isolated output (probably the same as in ProRMP) has 1 to 1 level transfer. ProRMP requires modification to remove unneeded voltage divider before transformer, just stupid engineering decision.

Thanks for the tip man, I guess I'll order one from Thomann and see if I dig it more than the x-amp I still have borrowed from a friend.

It took me quite a while to find out, that I really didn't like how at least this x-amp box colored the tone...had to max the output to get somewhat similar to a guitar into cab. I used balanced cables, so that couldn't explain the volume drop. Also the interface should have a output way loud enough.
So I never was really happy with the reamps, until I did a lot of testing and found out, that the x-amp throws in a lot of honky low mids when cranked past 2/3rds or so....always used to boost the volume with a bit more level from the TS to make up for that.

Keen to see if the palmer does the job better for me.

Yeah, I had the X-Amp a few years ago and that thing was completely unusable once I upgraded from my Presonus Firepod. Now I just use a Line2Amp that cost like $30 and it works great.

Same here, also using the Daccapo and really liking it. Gives me a good level and just works. I think the guy who reamped our last EP with it also liked it better than the Radial.

I was unsure as if to buy the palmer daccapo or the art dual rbd (that also serves as a DI)
but this thread has made me decide for the palmer ;)

On another note...has anyone tried the palmer DI boxes?

Didn't know so many of you guys were using it.
I tried the dual rdb but it dropped the level like the x amp and was noisy.
Used the palmer again for a session today.
Worked perfect again. No noise and perfect level.

I am after a good passive di so I'm going to get one.
The quality of the reamp box makes me trust the company.

I had the Radial X-amp and didn't like it either. Got the Little Labs redeye 3d and haven't looked back!

Also got a DI Box by Palmer, can't say anything bad about it, I'm really satisfied

Used a few of their di's with different bands for live gigs. Good sounding, well built with all the usual features you want. Pretty cheap too.

Well I am now sure that the POS Radial was ruining my reamps for the past several years.
The Palmer is crystal clear with no boom or fizz.
I am pretty sure the bad sound with the radial was caused by having to dime the output to get level, distorting the converters and probably the input stage of the radial too.
I am extremely annoyed that all my previous reamps could have been far better.

I contacted the distributor for radial last week asking could they check it for me because it has had a level problem since new.
They confirmed it sounded like a fault but went on to say that it was £50 just to look ay it then £60/hour plus VAT labour plus cost of parts needed to put it right.
I will NEVER buy anything Radial again.
It seems from reading the posts here that there is a design fault rather than mine having a one off fault.
I fully understand that it is out of warranty but if it is a design fault it should IMO opinion be covered.

It seems that both ProRMP and X-Amp designed in the same way in terms of level, ProRMP just easier to cure.
But it seems that you can made one good ProRMP from one X-Amp (if isolation transformer is the same YT-12243) :)
