Does anyone like Pantera?
I bought Cowboys From Hell ages ago, but I never really listened to it much. I've been hammering it all week. It's absolutely fantasitc.
My friend did a copy of his Far Beyond Driven album, but I thought that was garbage.
But this weekend I borrowed The Great Southern Trend Kill from my drummer. Even though I don't really like the vocals, I think the album is really cool. It achieves what it sets out to: it's ultra heavy, and some of the soloing is out of this world (especially the solo to Suicide Note part 1).
But it's the rhythm playing that grabs me. Dimebag Darrell's (when did he drop the "Diamond"? And why?) playing is so exact and tight. He doubles everything, but he plays it exactly the same, getting the same pinched harmonics everytime, the same degree of palm muting, everything!
What's Vulgar Display Of Power like? If it's more like Cowboys..., I'd be real interested in getting that.
