I'm another on the side that doesn't consider PL a return to their old style. It's drastically different, imo.
I like the production for what it is; a kickass metal production. Overall, I am a fan of great production that still has a human feeing to it. SOME rawness can be appreciated... but then again, I'm a huge fan of Frost's Milliontown, which I find a master in production... and it's very, very polished and done-up. It's probably because of the different dynamics the album has that makes it so great.
