Hi guys

Just got myself a 6505 and loving it. :kickass: Im gonna be recording with it next week so not much time to play around. Would love to try out any settings you guys can reccomend. Im sure theres Rob Flynn's settings somwhere around here that Andy provided? Im looking for a Chimaira kinda tone by the way but who knows what will happen!

Cheers :worship:

I generally run mine something like this... Got these settings from the guys in Despised Icon...

Lead Channel (numbers correspond to the numbers on the amp, not o'clock style):
Gain: 4
Bass: 6-7
Mid: 2-3
Treble: 3-4
Resonance: 5-6
Presence: 5-6

...and I run a Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive in front (any Tubescreamer style overdrive will do) set as follows:

Drive: 9 o'clock
Tone: 12 o'clock
Level: 1 o'clock

Congrats !!! I bought a 6505+ which was fine once I had it serviced...then I bought an original 5150 - just fantastic amps !

both had completely different charactersitics, to work our "your" tone maybe start from

Gain: 4 - 6
Bass: 6
Mid: 6
Treble: 6
Resonance: 5
Presence: 5

and start to play with it, your fiddle will definately have an impact on the tone - I had Bill Lawrence and they were too bright, put evos or emg and your laughing

all best with it

Curiousity, anyone else's Presence knob do absolutely FUCK ALL until you turn it to about 6 or 7? Mine does absolutely nothing until that area, then it sharply and quickly adds a lot of high end... Quite tricky to get it where I want it...

We had just received both 6505 and the plus version (re-stocking) in the store and got to try them both out with our guitarist. We used a Framus 4x12" that also came in just recently. The guitar was an ESP Horizon FR II with Dimarzio pick-ups.
After this test, we both agreed that we liked the plus version more, it just seemed a bit tighter. Don't know why, really. Not that the basic 6505 was bad, far from it, but dialing in the same settings on both just made the plus version tighter.
Both amps just sounded great with the EQs straight up, right from the word go.

Went straight on to the shopping list! :D

Oh, and with the Schecter Jeff Loomis model... ungodly!!

Nothing really to do with the topic, just wanted to share! :headbang:

Woah, slow down big shooter...mine's not modded and it sounds good. I know these mods are popular but is it a must?

it's good w/o as well..it'll just be better with a properly set bias.

mine was running (stock) at 8mA,.my friend's was at 12mA !!!
that is WAY too low and causing crossover-distortion, less dynamic, harsher sound (the "bees" ppl are talking about).

I'd definitely recomment doing the mod (can easily be done DIY ) ..if you don't like it with a correct idle current (you will like it though!) you could still set it cold...it just gives you the option to use it how it was designed

All four of mine have been like this! It doesn't kick in until 8, though - I leave it just covering the top half of the 8.

Mine gets going from the start, you can hear the difference from post gain one! Have you guys tried recording it too to hear the difference at low volume?

I've done tests to see if I just couldn't hear it, and there is very little, if any difference between having the presence knob at 0 and having it at 5-6. It starts kicking in really small at about 6-7, but goes nuts at about 8.

Same here...

Hey, great info guys I cant wait to get down the studio and turn it up! In fact Im getting a popcorn just thinkin about it  ooohh!

Whats the deal with the 2 channels? How are you seting them up for rhymn and lead?

Ive got a few different dirt pedals (original guvnor, Boss OD-1, Metal Zone, LINE 6 Crunchtone) but Id imagine my TS-9 will be the work horse?

Cheers :kickass:
