I would like know you guys' opinions on these. I'm starting to consider the possibility of a cheap combo so that maybe I could start jamming with other people. Nothing certain, but I'm doing my research...

How well does it take boosts? Would it be easy to turn it into a closed-back enclosure? Is it powerful enough to keep up with a drummer? What is the distortion like? Can it get somewhat 5150-ish or at least XXL-ish?

I remember playing one at one point and somewhat liking it. I also remember it being a somewhat bright amp. What are you guys' thoughts on it?

Thanks!

Well, I have a REAL 5150 (not 5150-ish) combo for ya I have going for pretty cheap.

How much do you have to spend?
Hey! Well... thank you, but I... um... kinda live in Mexico, so I don't think shipping a heavy 5150 internationally would be such a good idea.

Thanks, tho! :)

I'm gonna have to disagree with ya there Rex. I would definately fuck her first BEFORE marrying her!:loco:

El problema sería traerlo.... y después elegir un cabinet para usarlo... pero ese amp sería definitivamente una buena opción.

+1 Especially since she's fat and bassy, and her name's Randall!

I'm not entirely sure. I'm just starting to see the possibilities... I'm thinking perhaps up to around 500 bucks... I know it's a bit low, but I just don't really want to spend that much on an amp that I might end not using a lot, especially when there's tons of other stuff particularly recording-related that I want.

Like I said, I just want something simple that I can use to hear myself when jamming... And that doesn't sound so bad. :)

You've got the Windsor 1x12 sat on musiciansfriend at 399.99, there's also a 6505+ 1x12 combo for 683.99, now I don't know if they ship to Mexico, or whether you could stretch to 683.99, but that seems like an awesome deal to me, might be worth having a look for that combo in stores/online shops in your country.

I think I'd prefer the Valveking over the Windsor, to be honest. I've never been a huge Marshall fan. But then again, the 6505 combo does seem rather appealing. Thanks!

I got a Peavey Bandit. It's a great amp for rehearsals, no problems with volume even with the whole band playing together. I mean it's not a full stack but cuts thru the mix pretty well. There's no need to boost it (maybe only if you need vol boost for soloing), there are 3 different drive types with even more gain that you'll probably need. If you want any other info - shoot me ;)

Only stating the facts!

Thanks a bunch! Um... do you think it would be difficult to make it a closed-back enclosure? Any other amps you could compare its sound to...?

Hmm, I think that closed back may cause some low-end muddiness, and it's low frequencies are already pretty loose so... don't think it's a good idea :) As for the sound, well tbh I haven't played much amps in my short, miserable life but IMO it's definitely the best solid state around for modern metal tone. Sounds tight and a bit compressed, little fizzy. Great, sharp mid-range. In about a month I'm taking it back home from the rehearsal room, I'll make some clips if you'll be still interested.
