Peavey Windsors are.....

I've got a question: is there some sort of gate built in the windsor? When I play a palm muted powerchord really fast (like 1 short chord) the noise of the tubes comes a little later... when I reamp fast played stuff,I've got the same problem.... any ideas?

No gate build in.
Check cables.
Could be the noise cause of bad wiring (groundbuzz??) in guitar. Try a guitar with EMG's, see if the noise disapears.
Plug the powercable from the Windsor in a "earthed" point. (bad translation, but you know what I mean:))

Also plug your guitar without a eq pedal in front. My Boss GE-7 hisses, also when I dip one of the 7 sliders.

Well, let me be more precise:
the noise of the amp is not the problem. It's only that when I play one short power chord, palm muted, there's a silence right after the chord before I hear the natural noise of the amp, like there's some sort of gate on it. That's not that much of a problem, but it's the same when I start playing. The first chord sounds like it's faded in... it's bearly hearable, but when I reamp it sounds much worse...
I'll post some samples tonight so you can hear what I mean.

I searched the internet and found this:

"Worst of all is a kind of (maybe undesired) noise gate effect that keeps notes from ringing out but makes them sound muffled and muted after some seconds. What is this ? As far as I know there is no noise gate in it. "

"the effects loop is ok but it sounds mildy gated"

Maybe some people around here noticed this too and can tell me how to get rid of it. I don't have any FX in the FX loop by the way. I tried different guitars, different cables, with and without TS... makes no difference.

Man, Thomann is really teasing me with this one. Yesterday I got a note from the post office that I had a package from Thomann waiting, so I was psyched as hell the whole day, and when I finally got to pick it up in the evening, all I got was a big-ass box with one (1) speaker cable and one (1) 1U rack plate :D

Now it seems the head is already in the country and will probably arrive tomorrow, but the cab is still somewhere between Germany and Finland :/

Hmm. My G212V was just registered to the Finnish post a couple of minutes after I posted the last message. It was sent on thursday morning last week. Too bad you're gonna have to wait for yours :/

Fucking dogshit, just when I'm about to actually buy something it's out of stock.

Now the question is if I should get the Windsor anyway, in case it would run out until the cab comes back in stock. But then I would have to have it sitting around being useless for a month. BAAALLLZZ

Well, let me be more precise:
blablabla

I tried different guitars, different cables, with and without TS... makes no difference.

Problem solved I think... tried once more, but now only one cable to the cab instead of two... no more problems! And I'm not gonna play or reamp with stereo effects so....
Thanks to those who tried to help! :kickass:

Strange, I haven't had that problem with 2 speakercables.
And the Windsor isn't muddy at all, like someone wrote on Harmony-central.

Got mine today. When the amp is on, a noise/crackle that sounds like a recording with lots of wind hitting a cheap mic comes almost constantly out of the cab. Neither the preamp or the poweramp volume pots affect the noise in any way. Bad powertubes?

Yeah, I would try first with other set of power tubes.

Unfortunately the master volume seems to be located before the loop. It's no problem to mod it to be after the loop but still...

My Windsor (studio) was not working properly at all when I got it. Now it is in shape with few mods I made and there is more to come. The stock speaker in Studio model is shit :yuk:

Excellent. I don't have any money left to get new tubes, and to be honest, I have never changed power tubes to an amp before, so I'd really not like to try and bias it myself.

Also, now that I gave it a second go, the volume started staggering. The tubes are glowing nice and red, and they weren't loose in the sockets.

Fuck. Fuck this this shit so very much.

If you just try the new power amp tubes to confirm it's working, you don't need to adjust the bias.

Can you post a sample about the sound. Or is there a sound at all now?
