Yeah, I grew up in MA and still live there. Used "mint" as a kid in the '80's, but not since. Other weird ones: clutch, pissa (esp. wicked pissa), jewel...

mint is a term which originated from Newcastle in north east england where we have a dialect so strong its practically a new language. It basically means 'very good'.

Mint is a completely new word in Newcastle though, thats the thing. People who say it and dont understand jackshit about the Geordie dialiect can be seen as dumb, but if you grow up somewhere you learn to speak the local language just as much as you learn how to speak other languages that are an influence around you.
