What pickups are you guys favour using these days?

I am currently using a SH-13 Dimebucker + Entwistle Nemesis(Neck)

i've been an EMG81 guy avery long time. lasty i have discovered the duncan distortion which gave me a bit more "natural" sound.
i'll be getting a custom guitar with bareknuckle black hawks installed, pretty sure these will kick ass!

Sweet! I've been thinking of trying a distortion is it good for standard tuning?

I've heard some pretty good stuff about bare knuckles lately and want to give them a some day haha.

Favourite passives: Dimarzio D'Activator (nothing tighter, really. utterly ridiculous precision). Seymour Duncan JB (love it or hate it, it's got its uses and can't really be beaten for hard rock).

Favourite actives: 81/60 for the tried and tested consistency and reliability, and 57/66 for their liveliness and response.

Yeah, good to hear I'm not the only one mentioning that beast :) My Jackson 7 string is loaded with two Activators and they're ridiculously tight.

Emg 81's for metal 100%

You know exactly what you get, un-dynamic wonderful thick metal tone! I've ran across some pickups that we thought sounded awesome while we tracked (atleast that's what we thought) but once I started eq'ing it, it fell apart completely in the mix. Wobbly lowend, fizz spikes around 3-4k etc etc
For rock i don't really care.

I get pretty consistently great results with the 81, Hetfield, 57, and 89. 89 and 57 have been my personal favorites JH a close third with the right guitar/tuning.

For passives, the Duncan Custom and C5 tend to work out well. Never tried much else that I was thrilled on, kinda set in my ways now anyhow.

After playing a guitar from a friend of mine, I must say I really liked Bare Knuckle Holy Divers, wich will get installed in my new axe. Apart from those and the stock pick-ups, the P94 is one I enjoy as well, especially in the neck for more dirty cleans.
