please don't kill me gareth (updated hayworth mix)

o_0 ya think so? due specifically to the bass, or just a cluttered mix in general? i have the bass track duped, one is clean super lowpassed with rbass, should i scrap that one?

Better, still muddy though.
Its the guitars that just muddy up.. have you used a highpass on them? If not, do so.

Simply put it seems like everything in the mix is competing over the bass-frequencies, causing nothing to cut through.

guitars were hipassed, pretty hard too.

the mix i sortof want to be "messy" in a sense, for this style...or not messy, but ... i'm not aiming for a super sparkly articulate mix, no drum edits, etc. think converge-ish, only dirtier

yeah the only thing this needs is some room verb on the snare.
fuck this is savage though i love you man

holy fuck this band gets better every time i hear them, where the fuck are the vocals!!!
I WANT THIS NEXT RELEASE IN MY FUCKING PANTS

i totally agree, nate. i've been struggling with the brightness. there's no lopass on the guitars at all. snare has a big presence boost, as do the overheads. but it's not making the mix brighter, just more fatiguing. one of my pulsars broke so i had to use the c1000's as overheads and it's driving me bananas, HUGE mistake there. my last resort will be to tinker the air range in ozones harmonic exciter, that's worked miracles for me in the past.
