Pod pro or gt-8?

Depends what you want it for.

GT-8 has great and infinitely adjustable effects, but the ampsims and cabsims suck major ass.

Can't speak firsthand about the POD, but from what I have heard the ampsims, cabsims are pretty good, surely better than the GT.

I recently borrowed a friend's GT-8 for one night. I didn't have a chance to run it through an amp, but I used headphones and went through the manual and messed with just about all the settings. The only things I liked were the effects that didn't use some type of distortion. It does those things well, but as far as the preamp stuff and distortion, no way. I still really want to try it through an amp, but so far, I would not use the GT-8 for direct recording.

When I saw Katatonia, each of them were running one of those Damage Control distortion thingies into their GT-6's (or maybe 5's, I dunno), so I assume they agree on the crappy distortion front. The DC's sounded pretty killer, though!

Its a POD pro not the xt that i have a chance to get.
I plan to get a good head but will rely on what ever modeller i get for n
