Hey,

I need to get a live pedal board. Going to be using only the effects so need to know which of the two units I'm better of getting for using the effects.

Plus I don't want my head in a manual for a month so ease of use would be cool.

I could really use some help wit this one.

I traded in the gt8 for a line 6, the delay effects sound better to my ears and the fender blackface amp model won me over. Now I'm gonna need to trade the xt live for an x3 live because of the switchable effects loop...

I will say this: The Boss did a lot more but to me the reverbs and delays on the Line 6 feel superior.

Yeah, but the GT10 is a bit out of my price league, I'm hopeing to pick up a 2nd hand GT8 or XT live. Got a big festival at then end of the month and I'm both singing and playing guitar and can't really be hopping on my regular pedal board, when I can jus set up patch's on a processor.

I was down in germany doing the Rock Hard festival and Wave Gothik treffen with my XT-live, as long as you can slave it into another amp for monitoring purposes it's really an unbeatable festival rig!

One pedalboard and three cables and then your good to go!

Is that by running the XT in the effects loop of my 5150?

Have there really been 10 GT's? Or has it not been GT, GT2, GT3, etc. Cuz that seems a little excessive...

I've found that the Boss GT stuff lets your amp tone through the FX loop uncolored and is better in this type of setup. The POD XT just wants to dominate your tone and it will suck out some of the low end from your overall guitar tone if you run it through the FX loop or your 5150 or Mesa, etc. Seriously - the Pod XT will do this even when it's on bypass!!! It's crummy and I wouldn't recommend it, whereas the Boss stuff is pretty much the proven industry standard and is in use by Opeth, etc.

The amp modeling on the Pod XT is better though, so it makes for a better standalone direct-to-PA rig if you're needing it for that.

Nope. I'm pretty sure there have been GT-3 GT-5 GT-6 GT-8 and GT-10 though ;)

Thank you for that advice. If I had the money I'd get both, but I'm leaning towards the Boss. When running it through the FX loop of a 5150, I can basically (I think) use the GT-10 as a pre-amp for cleans, and that should sound better than the 5150 clean channel (even though I already find that extremely usable if you just add some reverb).

When I run pedals through my 5150, they sound extremely different than through other amps. I'm not sure if it's due to pre-amp coloration, or the cold bias overall. Any ideas?

+1

Hey......

It's just I heard a couple of guys live who were using POD's in the effects loop of a GT6, then running the out of the GT6 into rhe effects rturm om the back of an amp, and it sounded awesome...

My brother who's the other guitarist in my band has been using a gt-8 for a few months now- its pretty sweet. I don't love the distortion on it but its effects are really nice- the delays, verbs and modulation are really sweet. The pitch shifter and intelligent harmoniser are cool for little tricks and one off licks too. I'll definately look into getting something similar when I get my hands on some cash.

Only thing to say is if your looking for extreme ease of use then it mightn't be for you- it takes a bit of figuring out and you do have to adjust it for every rig with volumes of patches and such. once you know how to use it though its a breeze just i wouldn't go buying it on the way to the gig ya know?

without taking value of what´s been said, i dont´think the PODxt does this with my current set up : engl e530 (yeah your clips made me do it!!!:Saint:) with pod in the fx loop.
However, if Kazrog says what he says he´s a more knowledgeble than myself and i´ll take his word....i just cant say the same because i´s never tried the pod in an amps fx loop until i got the engl
