Pod XT Pro & 002R

I have an XT and a 002R, I'm just wondering how you guys connect your XT to the Digi Rack? I'm just running it from one of the jack outputs. Is that how you guys do it?

I tried following the instructions I got with it, but it doesn't seem to make sense to me

SPDIF cable between the two, set the sync to the POD.

Does it matter if I've got an ADAT link with another piece of equipment? It has a SPDIF input which I could use.

I connect them with jack cables and put a valve compressor betweent them to get a bit more analogue feel.

How does the AES output work? I can't make sense of it

It's just another medium of digital data transmission, like SPDIF or ADAT

Bringing it back,

I checked my Pod jack output compared to the SPDIF output and the Jack out is a lot thicker sounding. Am I doing something wrong with the SPDIF?

When I track a guitar, I just have SPDIF/L as my input. I'm just using an RCA cable, I should buy a SPDIF cable right?
