So, the part of Anesthetize between 6:17 and 12:11 is a very fine song. Why did they have to sandwich it between almost 12 minutes of mind-numbingly boring intro/outro music?

So far, I'm not grabbed by this album as much as I was with Deadwing and IA.

This album is totally on par with In Absentia, and that to me makes it the best PT release yet. I have a feeling this will be the album to top this year - AMAZING! I listened to it enough times to finally realize just how truly terrific it is, from beginning to end. The musicianship and song structures are unparelled - it all flows seamlessly and flawlessly. Musical bliss, period and one of the best prog albums I have heard.

Man, this was a shocker for me this year.

well he may spread himself a little thin but that came out more in blackfield II than FoaBP. he can still write very high quality stuff, hes no dan swano.

The lyrics are apparently a love-hate thing, but I think they're really quite well written. Some of the lines are just great. "I'm through with pornography/The acting is lame/The action is tame..." hehe.
