The yanks always do this, they're too afraid to watch anything that's foreign and think US audiences won't understand sarcasm, etc. remakes always lose out.

They did this with Kath & Kim, they made the cast more glamorous and got rid of the fat girl - it flopped. Australian audiences thought the remake was just embarrassing.

US film-makers also wanted to do a US version of The Full Monty not long after the UK version broke box office records

which is odd because when I was younger I used to watch Benny Hill, Monty Python and other such shows of the time on U.S. TV and it didn't seem to bother American audiences.
