Post the tightest guitar tones you've ever heard

+1 for Psycroptic and Decapitated. Those guys and their tones are tight as fuck!

woa really?

maybe my definition of tight is wrong or I'm lacking ear to discern tight playing.
I won't question your ability to hear tightness, tough.

those who think NILE is not tight, could you elaborate what makes you think that? I'd love to learn.
are we talking tight playing in terms of timing, evenness of dynamics or arrangement/riffs?

Nile usually have that mushy, loose, old-school type of guitar tone. And it's not exactly to prone to showing off articulate playing or picking. On most of their records I just kind of get lost. It's really hard to pick out exactly what they are doing or playing because of the tone they use.

That's my take on it anyway. I do love me some Nile, though! Opened up for them on the last tour

cool,

thanks for your input. I agree on the tone not lending itself the cleanest audible results.

The playing of the guitars just isn't very controlled sounding, like their technique needs work. Compare Nile to something like this:

or this:

The 1st one has clearly unedited drums and the second has Josh singing while playing, so it's not like Nile has either excuse to go off their. They're just massive and powerful, not tight and controlled.

Pretty much anything John Pertrucci recorded. I like Hetfield but I think he always gets credited as the tightest metal player ever, I just don't think he's THAT good. A sober Dave Mustaine's every bit as tight as hetfield
