Hmmm... could be a number of things:
Danzig III limited edition boxset from '92, found it on eBay a few years ago.
Danzig - Dirty Black Summer single CD, has the rare (and most excellent) When Death Had No Name.

Oh wait, I thought of my best one, a very limited edition TOOL picture vinyl, has some AWESOME artwork with 4 songs. Got it free by purchasing ÆNIMA on the release date at Best Buy (hate them now, loved them then).

I have several non-metal rarities though, mostly Ulver and Future Sound of London. :)

I would say:

The first two Sabbat albums - although they are in transit somewhere, so I've put faith in the eBay seller

Einherjer - Far Far North (digipak)

& WANTED:

Empyrium - Demo Boxset

Edguy - Savage Poetry (original release).

In Flames - Artifacts of In Flames cd (independent pressing, ultra rare)

In Flames - Lunar Strain, original WAR realease (3 copies, out of print and hard to find)

In Flames - Subterranean EP, original WAR release (4 copies, OOP HTF)

In Flames - Black Ash Inheritance mini Jester Head shaped cd on Nuclear Blast (OOP HTF)

Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction, Metal Blade version (OOP extremely HTF)

Jag Panzer - Tryants EP, Mauseleum Classics cd (ditto)

Riot - Narita, Japanese pressing cd, never released on cd stateside, extremely hard to find

Dew Scented - Immortelle, first cd, ultra HTF

Dew Scented - Ill-Natured, 3rd cd, HTF

Sentenced - The Trooper EP, OOP, EXTREMELY HTF

Waylander - Reawakening Pride Once Lost, 1st cd, EXTREMELY HTF (one day I'll have to review this killer, unknown band - Folk/Black Metal at it's finest)

Iced Earth - Days of Purgatory t-shirt with the demon chick on it. Never seen one other than the one I have. (There's a picture of me in it on the "About Us" section of the Royal Carnage website)

In Flames - The Jester Race long sleeve shirt, again, never seen it elsewhere.

Dark Tranquillity - Enter Suicidal Angels EP long sleeve shirt. I actually had a huge DT fan come up to me and say it's impossible that I have that shirt because he's tracked down every DT shirt in existence and doesn't have that one.

I'm sure there's plenty I'm leaving out.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure about this one. I remember buying this from a basic on-line mailorder for like $12 brand new. I also remember being underwhelmed by it. I think Cruachan's debut is much better.

Also, they aren't that unknown. Anyone with a bit of knowledge on the Irish metal scene knows of Waylander.

I've done business with an ex-member of Waylander. Very nice fellow.

:)

Here is my most rare stuff:

Agalloch - Tommorow Will Never Come 7" (it's not rare now, but give it a few years; only 500 made)

The Chasm - Procreation of the Inner Temple (2000 made)

Diabolicum - The Killing Spree 1.5 (only 666 made)

Graveland - Epilogue + In the Glare of Burning Churches (only 1000 made)

Today is the Day - Supernova

Today is the Day - Willpower

V/A - ABMS: Norici Obscura Pars (only 1000 made)

Wolverine - Fervent Dream (original 5-track, jewel case version on Zizania; only 800 made)

Here's some stuff, that while rare, can be obtained through searching:

Asphyx - Crush the Cenotaph
Bolt Thrower - In Battle There is No Law
The Chasm - From the Lost Years

I have a few more (through being reminded by Dreamlord):

Agalloch - Tomorrow Will Never Come 7" (3 copies)
Eucharist - Mirrorworlds
Solefald - The Linear Scaffold
Cynic - Focus (although the rarity of this is bullshit)
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (original press LP - BBC promo stamp embossed onto the front cover)
Pink Floyd - The Wall (original press/BBC promo stamp as above)

Agalloch "From Which Of This Oak" demo tape, 200 made or so
Dark Tranquillity "Trail Of Life Decayed" demo tape
Dark Tranquillity "A Moonclad Reflection" demo tape
Skepticism "Aeothe Kaear" demo tape
etc etc

If I'm going to be like Dreamlord I have a fucking ton of rare stuff. Original Wrong Again releases of Eucharist, Miscreant, Naglfar etc. and also Negura and Golden Dawn etc. Also the same Primordial. I only count the REALLY rare stuff :p

Hmmm.... interesting, any idea which vendor? I've never seen it in stock anywhere. I think it's very well executed. I know that The Light, The Dark and The Endless Knot is readily available, but I haven't seen to many copies of Reawakening Pride Once Lost floating around.

Well, I guess I know absolutely no one with knowledge of the Irish metal scene, heh. But seriously, I've never seen this discussed by anyone except Neil (the Iced Earth webmaster) who recommended it to me.

Actually though, I'd be happy to know that more people are aware of this band then I'd thought. :Spin:

Dark One, you definitely need to visit www.metalireland.com You will find a wealth of bands to check out. Or you can just ask me. :D

I found it at Ire Records, which is now gone due to the founder dying.

@Jay - I agree about Cynic. I never understand why people say that is rare. It seems readily available on many mailorder sites.

@phyre - heh, I distinctly differentiated between the uber-rare stuff and the must-buy-on-eBay stuff. ALthough some of the ones I listed (original Golden Dawn, Bolt Thrower, Dawn, Coalesce) are extremely rare and OOP.

Dawn didn't release Plan Be. Dawn only has two albums and 1 EP. The EP is rare one.

Plan Be was released by a band with 1 or 2 ex-In the Woods members. I used to own Plan Be and the full length by that band, but the band name escapes me right now. That's pretty much what I thought of that band. Forgetable.

Yes, it is the handmade digibox.

Speaking of In the Woods..., I forgot to mention I own one of their 3 super-rare vinyl 10". I own "Epitaph". I don't know how many were made, but it ain't many.

Sorry, I was drunk.

I think the handmade Maiastru Sfetnic is the only version there is.

Isn't "Epitaph" a 7"? (Hence "Three Times Seven On A Pilgrimage")

Dark Tranquillity - Enter Suicidal Angels EP long sleeve shirt. I actually had a huge DT fan come up to me and say it's impossible that I have that shirt because he's tracked down every DT shirt in existence and doesn't have that one.
The one with the cover pic on front and the band picture taken from "The Gallery" on the back? Not very rare nor old I'm afraid. It's been recently printed and is all over (well...) eBay. I have it too. Still a nice shirt.

More rare stuff I have:
Tiamat "Sumerian Cry" orig. CD
Tiamat "Sumerian Cry" orig. LP (near-impossible to find)
Tiamat "A Winter Shadow" 7"
Tiamat "The Astral Sleep" orig. LP
Tiamat "A Deeper Kind of Slumber" LP (not that hard to find)
In Flames "Subterranean" LP ltd. 500
Evoken "Shades of Night Descending" CD &
Evoken "Embrace The Emptiness" CD, both OOP
Mayhem/Darkthrone "True Legends In Black" CD &
Mayhem "From The Darkest Past" CD, rare bootlegs
Falkenbach "Promo 95" tape
Helheim "Niðr ok Norðr liggr Helvegr" orig. demo tape
Helheim "Jormundgand" CD & LP
Forgotten Woods "The Curse of Mankind" double gatefold LP ltd. 500

Thule demo tape, pre-Taake
Mistiggo Varggoth Darkestra "Midnight Fullmoon" tape LP
Eucharist "A Velvet Creation" &
Eucharist "Mirrorworlds", both originals on WAR
Darkthrone "Soulside Journey" CD orig.
Liers In Wait "Spiritually Uncontrolled Art" orig. pressing with ugly artwork
Katatonia "Jhva Elohim Meth" LP
Katatonia "Discouraged Ones" gatefold LP
Dark Tranquillity "Zodijackyl Light" VHS

Probably more but I'll stop right about here for now :p

Empyrium - special edition demo re-release (300 copies)
Naervaer - Naervaer (7" 300 copies)

Dawn...Drawn....you know what I mean, heh. :p Drawn - Plan Be features "Yours and Mine" from A New World? plus 3 other tracks. I guess I was just curious whether Plan Be itself was rare...Drawn are not even listed as an artist anymore over at Prophecy. Oh well.

Nope - there is a regular old jewel case version too. I want the handmade digibox version, though it's not like I've been actively looking for it I'll admit...

Off the top of my head:

Deicide - Legion picture disc (I think it's that album anyway...)
I Mother Earth - self-titled 10" blue vinyl
Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast red 7", Two Minutes To Midnight 12" picture disc
Judas Priest - Evening Star transparent 12"
Rainbow - Down To Earth transparent vinyl
Saxon - Power & the Glory 7" picture disc
Slayer - interview picture disc
Survivor - American Heartbeat heart shaped red 7"
Venom - interview picture disc
Whitesnake - Here I Go Again 10" white vinyl, interview picture disc

I know some of these are dubious in their Metaldom ;) but at least I didn't tell you about my Dan Reed Network vinyls :p

Does anyone know if Plan.Be by Dawn is a rare item?

It's not particularly rare. I picked it up from Prophecy pretty easily not so long ago. Finding info about that band is pretty rare though. I do know they've split though.
