Ok, I was tired of everyone complaining about my audio when I was grannyporn videoconferencing. So, I just ordered a PreSonus FireStudio Project for higher quality audio.

Full report when it arrives.

Well, it's been here for about 3 hours and I've yet to get this shit working correctly. My computer won't recognize it and the interface just mocks me with it's out of sync flashing LED bullshit. The HAEIT is rising up inside of me. :ill:

I thought perhaps it was because my firewire card has a VIA chipset, so I went to Staples and bought a fucking way too expensive Belkin firewire card with the TI chipset. Shit cost $60. FUCKING $60. It didn't do a damn thing. The VIA card cost $5. WORLED IS ASSHOELESSS.

Hahahahaaha, $60 for a FW PCI card? Good christ...and as for your problem, I hate to say it, but I suspect Windows McVista is the culprit...

I KNOW RITE?!!!
I fucking LOVE Vista and seriously don't want to go back to XP so I'm trying real hard to get shit working.
There's lots of people on the PreSonus forum that have it working fine in Vista, so there IS HOPE.

I'm trying to get ahold of my pal so I can hook it up to his XP laptop and see if it works better.

I setup a dual-boot with XP SP2. Still nothing. Shit's weeeaaaak.
I also emailed PreSonus tech support which is crazy. I never use tech support and this is probably the second time i've ever done it in my life. wtf.

I had a firewired interface from another brand (Echo..) and it was never recognized by my computer. It turned out that the firewire interface chip INSIDE the damn thing was burned. You may try calling the tech support as it may be a defective device..

Hmmm.
I tried it on my friend's laptop with XP just now and still nothing works.

I guess I'll send it back tomorrow.
Kinda sucks because I got a free Faderport, 5 XLR cables, and a rebate to get a free Inspire 1394 interface. FUUUCK.

I figured that just plugging it in without the driver would do SOMETHING, but nothing happens at all. Windows doesn't see that shit.

I do know Presonus recommends using a FW card with a TI chipset. I have a Belkin card in my PC and it works great. Also, they have Vista drivers, so I don't see why you would have to be in XP to use it.

I'm actually getting one of these tomorrow.

haven't recorded anything in ages looking forward to it.

was told to get this over the firebox as it has better preamps plus it's only $200 AUD more here.

Yeah, the card I had used VIA, but the new Belkin I bought for an outrageous $60 has the TI chipset. It didn't change anything. Nothing has recognized the FireStudio Project yet.

I'm thinking of sending it back and maybe saving up $200 to get the FireStudio Tube. It's got a little more I/O so one can record 16 tracks, which is really what I need to do live stuff. I've been using my pal's Mackie Onyx 1640 for about a year and it's been heaven.

FUUUUCK.
I was dicking around in the XP trying to figure out if I could copy the same drivers over for my wireless network card and decided to just plug the Firewire cable into input 2 rather than 1 AND FUCKING WINDOWS SAW THAT SHIT AND INSTALLED IT IN LIEK 2 SECONDS. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

What the fuck interface DOESN'T have a second firewire for daisychaining and shit? NOBODY USES #2 DAMMIT. fuck.

Anyway, so I rebooted back into Vista and got it up and running but this shit kills my entire computer.
I'm trying to listen to some fucking THIN LIZZY and shit's glitching out like a motherfucker. WHAT DO???!!!!

My computer is old as balls anyway, so it's to be expected, kinda.

I've gotta dick around some more and see if I can stabilize it.

I had a post over on the presonus forums about this(and there are hundreds more from other people) It is a firewire conflict with windows driver, not teh unit itself. For instance, people with Mac's never have the problem.

What works is either constantly turning it on and off until it works(it eventually will) or reinstall the original windows firewire drivers(before the service packs) I did the latter and never had a problem with it ever since. Although, I never had teh problem once I switched to Vista(I switched to TI firewire so that might have been it)

Ah, I see you are on Vista..... Must be your firewire chipset. Try getting a TI based card and it should work. if not, your unit is defective

DUDE, YOU GUYS NEED TO READ POASTSES.
I now have a TI firewire card that cost $60. It made no difference. I'm gonna put the VIA one back in and see if it still works.

This thing came with all kinds of software so I'm installing it now. BFD LITE and like 2gb+ worth of samples and shit.
I've never messed with BFD, so this will be interesting.

ALSO:
I'll probably hook up and test the FADERPORT tomorrow sometime.

Honestly, I can't stand most of your posts, so I just read the first few and replied:devil:
