Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness

Primordial are a great band that has been underrated and rather unknown for too long time...
-and The Gathering Wilderness is a great album.
I really like the lyrics on most songs (also on the last album...).

Good album, but I'm gonna have to say its overrated a tad. The vocals for the most part(although sung with utter conviction) annoy me. I'm no music theorist but he sounds too flat most of the time. The instrument work for the most part is great and they certainly know how to create a desolate atmosphere, however I think they tend to rely too much on a single riff to carry a song(The Golden Spiral comes to mind) and though the repetition is what builds the atmosphere, a little more variation in this case would be welcomed(to their benefit though this is mostly corrected in later songs).

Overall I'd give it about an 7.5/10
