Pro Tools 8.0.4 Now Available

yeah beat detective fades are fucked and take forever. compare to 7.x i use this as my break normally.
at least we dont have to constantly recalculate waveform overviews now!

tbh, i doubt i'm gonna bother upgrading from 7.4 for a bit... i'm not in a position to upgrade my comp and O.S. at the same time...

thanks to all you guys using PT8 though, its good to know the crack...

Bitch.

And I am running Snow Leopard with 8.0.3 so I am just attributing it to that. I just downloaded the update, so we'll see what happens now.

(And yes, I took this picture just for you. haha)

bah, clearly 'shopped!

:D

but tbh I have zero experience with m-powered

Has anyone been getting popping/clicking issues in this update? I stupidly upgraded the other day and I'm totally considering going back to 8.0.3 now, I never had this issue before!

Updated to 8.04 in the middle of a mixing session. Not a single problem so far. As I have already mentioned in some thread I was using cubendo for 10 years since the very first cubase vst versions, tried all DAWs during that time and went back to cubase. BUT when I tried PT last year I immidiately switched to it and sold all my cubendo MOTU 24io setup with soundcraft 24ch mixing desk. it is like night and day. I will forever stay in PT. And not a single crash since I first launched it not counting several regarded to system instability or a shity plugin. Digi guys on their forums are also pretty fast on replies and have helped to solve few of my problems immidiately. 90% of times PT crashes is due to incorrectly tweaked system or system instability, or shity plugins. Especialy if you are on MAC. That bitch is very sensetive to all minor incompatibilities. Simple example: russian language set in the system preferences of MAC OS caused lots of plugins (including waves and other high-end) to crash PT. Is it a because of the "weak" PT? I don't think so.

The only problem I am having with it is that it doesn't see Superior Drummer 2, I know I have the RTAS installed. It sees all my other stuff, just not that... Which makes it very hard for me to want to learn it.

not trying to get this started, but for the people out there who havent seen the past discussions on PT performance woes, I am going to state here that my experience has been quite the opposite. Pt was way less stable for me than cubase. I ran it on the recommended platform (MAC), and even kept my plugins under the very strict "recommended plugins" guidelines. A daw that can't stand on its own when a plugin goes down, is a WEAK DAW.

Only bug I have had lately is a random one when closing , it says C++ error r0256 or some shit , a thousand error windows pop up , and sometimes it just exits , sometimes i get the BSOD

That's usually do to a bad plugin. NOT saying it's a cracked plugin, just saying you can't always use the plugs you want in your sessions with the stability you want.
Narrowing down exactly which plug isn't easy as it could even be one NOT in use in the session, just residing in your plugins folder. Try mixing Transfuser with Massey plugins. Will crash instantly.

floridarolf stated that there will never be any 64 bit plugins. he is wrong. not to far in the future 32 bit operating systems will be discontinued, and finaly pro tools will have to realeses a 64 bit version. Microsoft has already announced it will not releasing a 32bit server o/s after there current 2008 version.

I can see what Joey means about instable PT. I do feel that the midi instruments are quite unstable on PT. But i dont use em that often so PT rarely crash on me.

that is true...they don't crash on me at all...but they're pretty heavy on my system. what i do, is i record each instrument at the time and i make them inactive once i finish. if i need to make adjustments i just make them active again.

i know...a pain in the ass and time consuming but it works without crashes that way.

for those of you who can not justify buying a mac like my self but also work in a studio where all you use is a mac learning 2 different set of short cuts is a pain then you can download this AppleK Pro http://download.cnet.com/AppleK-Pro/3000-2110_4-10217174.html it is for windows. it allows you to use apple shorcuts on a windows machine. but if you realy want a mac but dont have the money check out www.osx86project.org it allows you to run OSX on a PC.
dont wate your money on a MAC just configure you windows machine correctly and it will run just as well as a MAC.

IF any one out there has the drivers for the IK STOMP I/O please please drop me a message.

Do you have the latest update for Superior?

I just installed and works fine with this Protools update.

Um, check the IK website???

I bought the Stomp IO from a car booty for next to nothing. but it did not come with any software or license to transfer, so I can not download from the website. So if any one has the drivers drop me a message and we can come to some sort of arrangement.
