Pro Tools 9

That waveform thing is the main reason why I won,t move to PT9...Slip editing is really the fastest way to edit and it seems impossible to do in PT so I'll just stay in Cubase.

I've never seen the big deal about this. It hasn't been a problem in my workflow, but maybe its just because ive used pro tools from the start and got use to editing without it.

dammit, if I ditch tha PCI cards I'll loose ReVibe...fuck, I'm loving that reverb :(.
but is it worth keeping HD8 and the old mac just for 2-3 tdm plugins that I love?
or upgrade to an intel mac and ptHD9 without the cards and enjoy the advantages of that system?
aaaaaarrrrrrrggghhh.

do you know the feeling when you're sad and happy at the same time?
very excited and happy about the possibility of finally being able to upgrade to a new mac without having to buy new PCIe cards as well...
but very sad cause I have to wait so long..and save money...can't buy it now...sadface..
it's like a happy disappointment...like seeing an mirage in the desert

finaly I have the option to use protools if a client needs me to.
everything sounds good. but I must say they dont offer anything stellar that makes me want it over logic...

lasse, what interface do you going with wheb you have the new mac and pt9?

The deal-killer for me is the lack of VST support. Without Nebula and the free amp sims out there it's as useful as tits on a bull for tracking/mixing for me.

Still getting it to be rid of this damn Mbox though. I edit drums and vocals in PT, its workflow with voc-align and batch processing makes it more useful/quicker for me than Cubase. Mixing, guitar tracking, guitar editing etc. still done in Cubase. Bass editing could be done in either more or less. Elastic Audio X-form is pretty good with bass, but so is slip editing.

Fxpansion Vst to Rtas works damn well.
I'm really REALLY happy about this....
now I just need to find the money to buy it!
SO what interface is everyone going to be using NOW?

wait....CPTK2 list:

"• Advanced automation features:
• AutoJoin with Latch mode
• Touch/Latch mode
• Trim mode
• Composite automation playlist
• Copy track automation to sends
• AutoMatch "

so, if that's all not included in the basic PT9, what kind of automation IS included then?

Sincerely I'll wait a little before buying it.
First of all, I wanna know if PT9 is the same software from the basic setup to the HD version. And after that I wanna know the pros and cons.
I mean, the only advantage of this free PT is that (apart the more tracks available,etc...) we can edit drums everywhere (finally) without carrying a fucking interface.
I wanna know if we can use a very low buffer size to monitor through the DAW in "real time" using some plugins....if it's still at 128 minumum it's pretty useless. With HD and Native you can do that.
Another thing.....if I buy PT9 now and in 3 months I'll decide to use the Native...Will I use the same software or is it different?
In my opinion they are 2 different version of PT, as it's now....
In 2 words... PT9 is like a dongle free LE with more features. But for a very professional use the best solutions still be Native or HD.
Maybe I'm wrong...I hope...

Just a quick question about this. If I upgrade to PT9 by using my 002R, can I then use any interface in the future?

It's only £169 in the UK for the crossgrade :)

Ok just searched on DUC and it's how I suspected.
It's dependent by the Buffer size. So if you wanna monitor with no-latency during the recording, you have to use the interface mixer (if there is one) or an external mixer and mute all the tracks in PT to avoid the delay between the PT monitor and the interface monitor. I do this workaround now with profire and M-Powered and it's a waste of time.
Moreover, PT doesn't have a simple button to de-activate the software monitor.
