Pro Tools 9

I looked through Trigger and SSD and both of my downloads / installers only had VST formats.

Yeah looks like an uberfail. Can someone who's already got it confirm this?

Things you're missing without the Complete Production Toolkit2 that look essentially to me:
- Auto-Fades
- Continuous scrolling
- Replace region command
- Automation Touch/Latch mode
- Trim mode
- Preferences: Back/Forth amount
- Preferences: Auto Region Fade In/Out

That alone has made me reconsider getting it.

I love it how everyone bitched about wanting an open Pro Tools with ADC and so on, and when Avid finally comes up with it, people start bitching about... uh... lack of continuous scrolling? Really? I always use page scrolling even when working with other DAWs.
It's not that the feature doesn't exist what upsets me. It's the fact you have to pay 2000 dollars for it  Just.. why?

I love car analogies, so let's do one! Say you're buying a new car. You're looking at the basic model that costs $20.000 and the business model with all the goodies for $50.000. You get a free set Wunderbaums (New Car Smell, I can't stand the others. Yuch!) as a bonus with the business model. Now, do you think "That's nice!" or "What? The Wunderbaums cost, like, ten bucks. Why can't I have them when I buy the basic model?" even though you'll probably never even open the package.

And yes, I know that's a horrible analogy. It's just that whenever people discuss Pro Tools, someone has to come up with even one car analogy.

guys, just a Q: I don't use PT since, like, version 6, and I was just starting out. What do you PT users use instead of slip editing ?

To me it's more like there's the basic version, that has (funny enough) some luxury features like Wunderbaums, a nice AC, leather seats, etc.
But it's got no brakes :yow: Also the gas pedal has to be pushed with both feet and at least one finger. And your tongue :err:
Okay I'll stop. But the way I see it, proper editing, automation and especially being able to change all the "preferences" are basic features and not some nice-to-have gimmick (like for example 7.1 mixing or 96 video tracks).

Ha, probably true.

PS: Fucking Wunderbaums, LOL. Why is it other languages picked up some of the strangest words in german language? :D

Don't know if this was fully covered in one post, but here's the official memo on everything PT9 within the US:

• ALL versions of Pro Tools 9 require iLok. Only the box-copy of the "Full" Pro Tools 9 comes with an ilok.

• Pro Tools 9 crossgrades from LE require a Pro Tools LE hardware serial number to complete registration. This means the customer MUST have LE hardware: Digi002, Digi002R, MBox2 family, 003, 003R, 3rd Gen MBox (PTMBox) family.

• Pro Tools 9 upgrades for HD require a hardware serial number, which will be the core card serial number. Retrieving this serial number is documented in the attached PDF

AMNESTY UPGRADES

• Any recent or imminent purchase of a Pro Tools LE system DOES NOT qualify a user for a free Pro Tools 9 upgrade. Period.

• If you purchased and registered any toolkit on or after October 4, 2010, you are eligible to receive a free crossgrade to Pro Tools 9 software. If you registered your toolkit purchase within this timeframe, you'll automatically receive an email with a free activation code and link to download Pro Tools 9.

• If you purchased and registered a Pro Tools|HD or Pro Tools|HD Native system on or after October 4, 2010, you are eligible to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools HD 9 software. If you've registered your system within this timeframe, you'll automatically receive an email with a free activation code and a link to download Pro Tools HD 9.

Anyone else thinks the new iLok is fucking sexy? :D
I hated that ugly big blue motherfucker, and more space on the iLok is a good thing, too.
Just looked it up and the transfer on a new iLok (but same account) is free.
