Pro Tools 9

can't wait to hear some in-depth reviews of this!

edit: what does this mean?

For example, you now get more tracks - up to 96 voiceable tracks at 44.1/48kHz or up to 192 with HD. You also get more simultaneous I/O. That is, you get 32 channels or up to 64 channels with HD. With these generous track counts, you're free to work the way you want.

they are really still trying to limit tracks like this? come on, it's 2010... and I thought this meant the whole HD/non-HD thing was over?

I cant find my old Le protools cd's I think i threw them out. FUCK!

Looks like i'm going to have to pay full price and i cant download tonight.

hmm you need your discs to download the new one?

I figured you would need the serial number from the disc and i had my old 7.4 disc that i got with 002 but i think they got trashed.

Sweetwater was saying you need to be registered or some shit and like I said I got both my 002's used so I don't want to get screwed buying the upgrade.

yea Im right there with you in a way. cuz my idiotic self never registered.

im curious tho, on which it is.

because I have both the discs for PT LE7 and PT MP8
and then I have both hardware for mbox and fast track ultra 8r.

Fuuuu so tempted to buy and download right now...

I heard there might be an additional discount for people who bought the Music Production Toolkit though, so I don't want to do the upgrade until I know if I'm getting any more money off...

Yea i bought the Mptk and then upgraded it to mptk2.

Can you buy the full version and download now?

On the avid site it says pre order?

I need protools 9 NOW!! hahaha

I'll probably get in on this after I finish a couple projects.

After that, the ONLY thing stopping me is not knowing if my beloved Nebula programs will work in PT9.

Don't know if this was mentioned yet, but here's a tip for getting $50 off full market price and get an Mbox 2 mini in the process at no extra charge...

Buy that, then...

Crossgrade:

Cross grades are good on PT 8 only. 7.4 is not valid. Anyone who purchased the Complete toolkit between October and now will receive a free upgrade to the current incarnation. Biggest effects of Toolkit are more tracks (more than any of us may ever need) as well as expanded video capabilities. No more MP toolkit for PT 9 (don't need it). And yes it really works as a standalone without error, I've personally seen it in action. I'm looking forward to seeing 32 channels of simultaneous I/O.

edit:

Almost forgot. An ilok is needed to run Pro Tools 9. An ilok 2 is included with the boxed version which is apparently in the US already, and the electronic delivery version does not include an ilok. The electronic delivery version is supposed to be online already, they've vastly updated their server structure to accomodate the large bandwidth that will be used to handle the onslaught that's about to happen. An original ilok will obviously be able to hold and operate the Pro Tools 9 license.
