There was a so called second vawe of punk (at least here in Sweden)that consisted of bands like Sixten Redlös, Rolands Gosskör, Asta Kask, Köttgrottorna and many more. The first vawe belonged to Ebba Grön, KSMB, Garbochock etc. and they were considered "old" then the second vawe ( the first half of the eighties ) occured. Common for these band of the first and second vawe is that they all sang/yelled in swedish.
I did listen to nonswedish bands as well, but i could never stand the voice of Yellow Biafra who, like Feargal Sharkey from Undertones, sounded like a "Cinderellamouse" IMO.
BTW about that time I used to listen to many nonpunk australian bands like Screaming Tribesmen, Triffids, Hunters & Collectors, Lizzard Train, Lime Spiders, Hodoo Gurus and many more.
Some of the bands you mentioned is beyond my knowledge since I rarely listen to punk anymore, apart from "nostalgic" reasons.
Yes, Turbonegro are from Norway and the little I´ve heard by them doesn´t make me want more.
But since your´re australian you might know about a band called Bored that I heard around '89-90. I recorded some tracks from the radio on cassette and I know absolutely noone who´ve ever heard of the band. I believe the record was called Negative Vawes and If the hole album sound just slightly as good as the tracks I´ve heard, that indeed kick HUGE ass.
Do you know anything about them? There´s not much info on the net.
