Pete, it wasn't only up to Jani. Any member of the band could have decided to pay for it. And as far as I know, the "head" of the band, if there is one, is Tony Kakko, the vocalist. I think it was him and Jani who first started the band.

A. I'm guessing it wasn't the $5 itself, but the idea that their free ride was over that made them desert UM. Freaking ridiculous, IMO, but oh well, their loss, ultimately. (Oh and it was the ProgPowerUSA forum that got me here on UM to begin with, tho I didn't post much until Power of Omens and Symphony X opened forums here).
