Two big new rumors to pass along today. The first is that the band has already begun work on their new album, and get this, it’s nearly done being written. No word on a direction, theme or possible release date.. but nonetheless, all those details are being worked on as we speak.

But as we wait for more information on the new album, rumors of a Spring/Summer tour are starting to heat up. What we can tell you is that due to the success of the two cabaret shows in Seattle, the band has decided to take it on the road. No dates to announce just yet, look for those soon. In the meantime… this might help get y’all excited.

great news. my guess a mid 2011 release

As y'all can guess.... I'm fucking stoked :)

And please, for the love of god, come to the Detroit area this time!

so what are you hoping the album sounds like?

i want either 2 things:
1. they continue with the direction of american soldier but add some faster tunes

2 they make an entire album of long moody songs like "lady wore black", "roads to madness", "promised land", "della brown", "anybody listening?",etc which is something they've never done

Whatever they do, lets hope it has some spark, some imagination..some signs of fire and life... I am not expecting Queen of the Reich..but for gods sake lets just have some decent tunes. American Soldier was totally bland, mindless, uninspiring, drivel. Most people I know cannot believe how bad it was. Just horrible.

weird. that seems like the exact opposite opinion of most people who listened to american soldier. other than the fact there wasn't enough fast songs

Tastes (luckely) differ, I hope they will make an album in the same line as American Soldier, as I found that a very good album!

Those songs listed are among my favorites but we sorta got that with American Soldier already. I want some faster shit too like Needle Lies or something.

I'd be cool with a cross of OM2 (with better production) and American Soldier. I just hope they steer clear of the late 90s sound.

To echo the other 2 posters, I absolutely loved American Soldier. I still listen to that album quite a bit. I think were a few weak songs (#10 for example) but overall, it was a very inspired record. Musically it may not have been Operation Mindcrime, but the stories surrounding it are fantastic.

It seems since Promised Land Queensryche has been more of an introspective band (IMO). Rage For Order, Mindcrime, Empire were all about what was going on externally outside of Queensryche. Promised Land and their later work seems to be Geoff Tate trying to find his internal self. Some of it has worked very well, others not so much.

Maybe someday I´ll understand why that band lost the inspiration after "Empire". For me, it´s unbelievable. Even "Empire" is poor in relation to previous efforts but they got very good tunes. After that I only like a couple of songs from "Promised land" and 2 or 3 from "OM II". The rest . No expectations for the new one.

promised land is my favorite queensryche album :erk:

yeep, for the most part its like listening to two entirely different bands, the "metal" was mostly gone after Empire and thinning on Empire, but something else was missing too, decent enough songs but that is probably it... decent... not much on a whole that is as memorable or impacting as their earlier works. I believe they strayed too far from their rootes. Its probably just not a direction they want but I've said it before, they need a new guitar player that can create and chunk out some riffs old school metal style, build the songs around that and add in the Ryche treatment, many fans would be extatic. For cryin out loud rock the thing! I think I'd say the same for Fates Warning(who appear to be defunct), their "new" sound was great and I loved it but it grew really long in the tooth. Ya still gotta get down and kick it sometimes.

My opinion

I know their slightly different but I consider all full Alder era recordings to be the same sound, in a similiar vein I guess you could say, which I still prefer to the first era but they are more than mature enough now to put an excellent new spin on their thing with a more heavy edge.

Im spinning OMC, OMCII, Empire, FWX, Dark Saga and "Covers" now for a bit of re-evaluation on MCII see how it goes when it gets here. Cant find my Q2K ??? I suspect one of my musician buddys... LOL

I want to throw the idea out there that I personally believe Iced Earths Dark Saga was a few very Rychish feeling songs. I'd like to hear anyone elses opinion on this.

I'm on board with Flavio and Marco. I think the post-Empire Queensyche was a completely different direction, and the departure of DeGarmo has to be a factor in that.

DeGarmo is all over Promised Land, and it's pure awesomeness. Then again, he's also all over Hear in the Now Frontier...

there was a new expanded Q2K i purchased that seemed to go out of print shortly after it was released. it had 2 great bonus studio tracks "until there was you" and "howl", a live version of "sacred ground" and the radio edit of "breakdown". here is a live version of "until there was you"

the 2 bonus studio songs were better than some of the songs on the album. geoff even states he had no clue why those tunes were left off. Q2K has a very jazzy sound to it imo plus the great closer "the right side of my mind". HITNF is really that album everyone needs to go back and listen to. its much more than it appears to be
