If you like either of those bands, go buy Theater of war by jacobs dream, the vocalist sounds *just* like Geoff Tate and musically they sound like dream theater at their heaviest crossed with mindcrime era queensryche (the comparison will be REALLY obvious when you hear the album, so jacobs dream are very derivative, but very enjoyable 
Ive had the album for a week, and its really growing on me, it has a lot of elements of the heavy part of power metal too.
Really great guitar solos and great lyrics, plus a great album cover, this album gets spawnys album of the week
If you want to download some songs first, track down theater of war, sarah williams (my fave at the moment) and traces of grace, those 3 will give you a good idea of the style of the album.
