Question that shows my pro-audio noob-itude

I was drooling over the Brent Averill 1272 today, but then realized something - how the hell do you set levels on the thing? Is this one of those stupid "you have to be good enough to hear it" matters? Hardly seems like asking too much for at least a "peak" LED...

There's an input and an output knob.

No need for lights.
