Can this forum get any worse? I've been floating around since this place opened, and yeah, it's great for certain people to socialise, but really, man food? This kind of stuff has been going on for months.

Can't we discuss Anathema, the music and life issues that arise from it? Especially as we have band members (and ex band members plugging their new band) regularly contributing.

For instance, I'd really like to know what you all think about the rock elements that are creeping into the sound. Does 'A Fine Day To Exit' change your perception of the band for the better or worse?

Personally I've always felt that the wider they go laterally, the further my horizon to enjoy them broadens. I can listen to 'The Silent Enigma' next to 'AFDTE' and feel the same magic occur. Many people dislike the latest album... I'd be interested to read how other people view the different styles in the context of the whole.

Do you perceive two different bands, or the same band in different clothes?

Noone prevents you from doing so !

i guess the problem here is almost everyone knows anyone in real life. so were a true brotherhood with manfood. and other shit. stay away from the threads that arent interesting for you

Well, since I just recently discovered this board (allthough I'm an Anathema fan since 1996) i would like to team up with the other (Belgian) Anathemiacs at one of the following gigs here (from them or Antimatter)...
:headbang:

Sure, there are a few threads I'm not interested into either. But I just not read them ;). As Mariner said some of us know eachother personally and so it comes that sometimes there are insider jokes or that you are talking about something else that Anathema. I don't think you talk only about Anathema with your friends either ;)

This forum has hit the rock bottom quite some time ago and that's why I quit moderator job. Since people want to keep this forum their playground and virtual meeting and chatting place for people they know in real life as well, I will let them do so. It is a fine day to exit indeed this place as well...

uhm. mega we dont spoil in the serious threads so thats fair enough (okay we do but after everything is being said and nothing serious will ever be said again)
and uh why they do have a seperate forum at opeth and we dont! :( and we're the ultimate merdits! not them :(

I think some of the supposed 'serious threads' are totally cringeworthy and if this forum was just full of them it would be awful. The idea of people trying to tell me how to relate to other people via a forum is bullshit, much worse than a harmless joke about Man food or whatever. As Cedarbreed said, nobody is preventing anyone else from discussing how much 'unforgotten sleep' relates to their life etc.. maybe there should be splinter groups eg. The Provisional Anathema Forum and The Real Anathema forum bla bla bla

and what will be the real forum?
we may be in need of sth like they have at the opethforum.
and even then. do we need it at all. its okay for me the way its going on right now. but if some people are upset by it and want to turn this on in a 2nd wankerforum on UM....

My original post is a tad rude, and I apologise to the regulars, but I used to post here all the time and now it seems rather stupid to post a serious thread amongst all the guffawing.

Plus if you all know each other, just go round to each other's houses or something.... *shrug*.

lol Requiem , just look at our locations ;) Well we can still make an impromptu barbecue at Pieter's tonight !

it dont mind people pulling jokes all the time, except when them jokes aint funny, which happens quite all the time.

Well, it seems forums have the same problems all over the world :) Ever since I started reading forums and posting to them, I've seen the same stuff. Some people, the less "chatty" ones, don't like people offing, but those who have the time/opportunity to use forums as chatrooms, and especially those who know each other and have had some common experience (hmm :)) do so. I admit I rather belong to the latter group if it comes to it, especially if there are people who react to what I say, even if that's stupid sometimes/often/always (it depends on how much these people like me). Often I've been told off very-very rudely for peculiar (or not so peculiar) reasons, for what I've thought was clever :), though I've also been told not to take the net seriously.

So I don't know what's the right attitude. I'd say "don't read it if it doesn't interest you", but that's been said before. On the other hand, I can also understand those who hate such stuff, though I don't really see the point in hating, because, to a certain extent, I don't give a shit who writes what into which topic/thread. I read the ones that amuse/interest/inspire me and skip the rest. And maybe I've just grown more patient with people and their stupidity :) Is it wrong to expect them to be patient with me as well?

As for the suggestion: "why don't you go and meet personally instead of talking shit on the net"? If only I could. I'm not part of the "Belgian gang" :), but I can see their point. The net is a substitute, but a good one at that. Or rather, better than not having any connection. And I've met a lot of my friends on the net.

I think some of the topics that are "topical" are boring anyway if there's not much news to talk about. So there should be serious threads and not so serious ones too.

PEACE! LOVE! and ROCK AND ROLL! :)

Beszéltem. :)
