Rack Question?

Thing is ...... despite the fact that I've worked with racked equipment before at a studio I'm still puzzled about the layout.

Problem is I cannot buy a ready-made wooden rack for some nice studio furnishings because 1) I don't know where to buy one from in my country, 2) To order it from abroad amounts to double its price in shipping costs.

So I want to get them built custom made by a carpenter once I provide the required fittings. However, I'm going to have to ask this (:cry:stupid:erk:) question:

Does the equipment stick in place after it is screwed into the fitting through the front or does it require some bottom support for the base? Because the way I see it, fitting it from the front only leaves moments against it and I'm guessing it will decline downwards from the backside if it has nothing to sit on.

For example: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thon_studiomoebel_standrack_5002.htm

Will the equipment just sit in place without any base support with just screwing it in from the front? Or if so, what kind of fitting do I need to support it properly?

Sorry for this question but I don't want to take any risks.

As long as you use metal rails *designed* for use in racks you won't have to worry about the units needing any extra support other than the screws on the front holding it to the rails.

Ok I see.

I was going to go with this:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/adam_hall_61552_blk_rackschiene.htm (along with fitting nuts, screws and washers)

because that what the fitting looks like on most racks. However if anyone can suggest a better one please do (or maybe the one I selected isn't meant for the purpose I'm looking for?)

And also, will this help me in any way? I Have no idea what it does:

(or what they do):

Sorry but I am absolutely clueless when it comes to building stuff like this and I was hoping you could shed some light on my lack of understanding.

I don't want to spend money on buying and shipping items that are useless and I doubt my local carpenter/handyman would know any better when it comes to assembling studio furnishings.

That rail should be ok. Everything else you linked to I couldn't really figure out what you would need them for so I would say don't worry about them. It's easy to build a rack yourself, just get a sheet of plywood and make the measurements and cut it up, making a box with two open ends, then install the rails on opposite sides in one of the open ends. Done.
