Has anyone bought the Cynic - Focus Re-Issue yet? Hows the production quality now, and bonus tracks? Ive been meaning to get it lately, but i keep getting sidetracked with albums i dont have yet.

I'd also be interested in that. Hope that stupid clean vocals have been replaced.

heres my post from the "mikaels playlist from dec. 2004" thread...i figured it was relevant for this thread as well...

i like the playlist this month a lot...pretty eclectic...

day of phoenix is an amazing danish progressive band...pretty killer stuff.

Nicolai dunger is a wonderful fok artist...anyone whos into guys like nick drake, or scott walker, or sandy denny...check him out.

jericho (actually known as jericho jones for their debut album)...is a great progressive rock band with a 1-off album.

robin trower...hopefully some people here are familiar with him...hes from Procol Harum, the band which helped form progressive rock as we know it...and his releases are certainly close to being on par with the mighty procol boys.

Blue Phantom - Distortions.....to be honest, ive only heard a few songs from this crazy progressive band, but i loved it....finding copies of this album arent terribly easy...but it was released on CD, so i shall be picking it up as soon as i find one....if anyone does...let me know, id be glad to purchase it from you.

Pan is a wonderful progressive rock band, hard hitting and pretty catchy and interesting, (notorious for its odd s/t album cover of a hand full of grapes).

Gravy train - another fantastic progressive/folky band from the UK...highly recommended for anyone into this style.

and comus, which has been explored in the rare 70s prog thread on this forum is also great...check the thread out if you havent yet by the way.

as for the other staples...like jethro tull (fantastic), gentle giant (fantastic), and Iron Maiden (duh, fantastic...especially the first 6 albums)...it goes to show that the classics never get old...even with the veterans. keep rockin

not until march '05. i just listened to it..it's really good. everyone that has it is bitching about the quality, but it doesn't sound that bad. i'll be purchasing the album in march though.
if the quality is bad...perhaps the unmastered recording was leaked...im not sure, id have to hear it.

any chance you could send me a few of the songs?

haha the song lengths: 13:08, 5:57, 12:27, 13:15, 31:42 (only 5 tracks). i was surprised. i'm going to sleep now, but i'll definetly hook you up tomorrow with it man. you've sent me a lotta shit, and i appreciate it, so i'll send you the whole thing, if you want.

Apparently it was ripped from a 96kb recording into a 128. Stupidty all round. Everyone's hoping for a higher quality rip to come about. I've never heard these guys before, so I'm curious to check this out.

thanks, id appreciate it.

well, this new mars volta has grown on me, and i must say i like it quite a bit.

more daring...less accesible...but far more progressive and experimental.

its like King Crimson meets Can meets Carmen, Meets Gentle Giant meets Magma.

on another note...i recently got a bootleg DVD of porcupine tree...from 1999...its quite awesome...but i must say their live performances have gotten quite a bit better and more interesting. ill see what i can do about ripping this on the computer, and posting seperate songs.

... meets whiny vocalist.
Love em though.

haha...you have a point. to be honest, his style is the only thing i have a problem with...kinda emo sounding...however hes got good range and a lot of talent....just doesnt fit the music 100% all the time it seems.
