rare prog from early 70s

Yeah, Wobbler sounds astoundingly promising though (or because?) the Änglagård influence is obvious.

Well, anglagard probably influenced them a bit, as did white willow im sure. however, bands like these are usually obsessed with genesis, van der graaf generator and and other such bands. either way, i liked the material a lot.

Actually they mentioned Änglagård, GG and Il Balletto di Bronzo as main influences on their site :) And the intro of their song "leprechaun" is very similiar to "Ifrån klarhet till klarhet" from Hybris. But really looking forward to their cd too.

By the way, is Il Balletto's album "Ys" worth checking out? I see a lot of reviewers divining it while others find it just mediocre. I've been lately developing a growing interest on Italy's greats (Banco, PFM, Goblin), recommendations on that front?

id say its a decent album, but i dont listen to it often. when it comes to italian stuff, i mainly stick to the big guns too...along with loconda del fate...another great band.

Whats the big deal with Genesis there are bands that are way better, but they dont get no respect.

I brought a gong album the other day, very cool.

the big deal with genesis? have you heard the first 4 albums of theirs??!?!

id understand if you were talking about phil collins era...but cmon.

There are some bands which are better...but its not night and day in my eyes are you are making it out to be. but i think all bands which are good and promoted well get respect...its not like people are looking to disrespect good bands in this genre. maybe they just havent heard them.

I have thier thier live album, and a couple of mp3's (phil colins era might as well be a diff band) and i just find the music not very striking, nothing that makes me want to listen to it over and over again. Just my opinion though.

hmm. well...it seems everyone has their favorites. some are floyd heads, some are yes freaks, some are king crimson fanatics, and others are genesis gurus...haha. I like them all, but yes takes the cake for me of that grouping.

Anyway, before you make your final mind up, do me a favor and download the entire "selling england by the pound" album...im sure youll enjoy it.

That album is amazing. I just got it a few weeks ago and was floored by it.

yes, please do, im curious to see how you like it.

kotno...i hadnt heard of that composer before ( in regards to your PM), thanks for showing him to me...hes quite good. somewhat reminds me of bernarrd herrmann, i will be further exploring his work.

i gotta d/l a couple of genesis albums, since all i've basically heard is the We Can't Dance album haha. they seem to be mentioned a lot in this genre, and to be a big influence. i suppose i'll hit up the selling england by the pound album.

got a few new cds today:

Doctor Strangely Strange - heavy petting. its pretty good folky prog/psych rock from the UK. early 70s, querky with lots of harmony vocals.

John Martyn - Late Night John. Amazing compilation of moody, "late night listening" songs from this classic UK singer songwriter much like nick drake, nicolai dunger or reminiscent of even some fairfield parlour or tudor lodge material. fantastic stuff.

check them out guys, if youd like.

I tried to find some doctor strangely strange but i couldnt

I listened to selling england........... and my opinion didne really change. I think it doesnt go anywhere, i quite like the cinema show but after about 6 minutes it started to anoy me.

On the other hand ive been listening to shallow a bit lately and like it alot more than when i first heard it (accept for the one part where it sounds like lars ulrich is drumming), its still not a great PT song (although some one on the pt board raised the point of it being a radio edit and the album version could be different) but i wouldnt complain if it was on the radio.

well, im still somewhat suprised that genesis bored you. however, thats what makes music great...everyone hears things differently right?

doctor strangely strange will probably be hard to find in mp3 format...but theyre worth checking out if youre into that type of style.

as for deadwing...ive gotten wind that its leaked now...anyone confirm this?
