My copy of Hybris by Anglagard arrived today. This is one fantastic fucking prog record. Easily could have been released in 1972 and yet it doesn't give me the shits like many neo-prog bands. There is just something special about this one.

yep. and if you havent yet....check out anekdoten - gravity, paatos - timeloss, landberk - one man tells another, and dungen - ta det lungt.

youll be blown away in the same way...all neo prog that youd never know otherwise.

how much did you pay for it? did you get the LP or CD?

i agree änglagaard rule bigtime but it's hard to get their cds...

got camel - music inspired by the snow goose today. it's great i probably like it better than mirage, moonmadness and the s/t. it doesnt get much more melodic!

also nektar - journey to the centre of the eye came and it's interesting! i couldnt listen to it yet with much care but it's sure worth it's price.

(other stuff i got tho it doesnt belong here: agalloch - the mantle and bloodbath - NMF)

has this forum ever had a thread reach 1000 posts...because this one is getting there. I would participate, but I dont know shit about 70's prog - Camel is probably the only band mentioned in this thread that I've heard...I'm such a tr00bie:erk:

put aside a bit of funds, and get the following:

Yes - Close To The Edge
Camel - Mirage
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
Genesis - Selling England By The Pound

Youll probably enjoy most of those if not all, if youre an Opeth fan, and are appreciative of good rock or music in general. Theyre all fairly accessible, melodic and wonderful albums. YOu cant go wrong, and it will be a great starting point for you.

i can agree to these (dont know about the others tho)...each album worth every cent thrice!

deliverance,

I paid $30 for Hybris from Amazon but I signed up online for their Visa card and they gave me $30 bucks off my first order instantly, so I only paid for shipping really.

Thanks for those additional recommendations Joey. I ordered the Anekdoten and Dungen this afternoon. I appreciate your recommendations and agree with those above as a good starting point. All excellent records.

you wont be dissapointed i dont think. :p

Anyone like Rakoth? they are a very cool Russian prog-folk-medievil-blackmetal-avant garde band or something. I got their debut today its quality really interesting use of flute

There probably aren´t many people here who can receive the German TV-station WDR Fernsehen, but I´ll post this nevertheless:
Nektar´s concert at the Harmonie in Bonn on March 12, 2005, will be recorded for the German TV-programme "Rockpalast". On the Rockpalast-website (sorry, it´s all in German) there´s no information yet when this concert will be shown on TV. I only noticed here that an excerpt of this concert will be aired on WDR Fernsehen on May 16, 2005, somewhere between 1 and 3 a.m. CET.

i heard several MP3s of theirs, eager due to the description...but was quite let down unfortunately. I find it very uncommon that a metal band does folk well, or vice versa.

Might be an option. I could record it on a video-tape and then copy it onto DVD. I think it should be possible to find a satisfying solution for those interested.:)

Joey,

How is Virgin Prophet by Mellow Candle?

to my knowledge, swaddling songs is the only studio album they have. so this virgin prophet release must be unreleased or demo material....of which i havent heard. so let me know if its good or not if you check it out.
