Bo Hansson - Ur Trollkarlens hatt (Magician's Hat) // I like this more than "Lord of the Rings", a more mature sound with somewhat more experimental instrumental compositions.

i feel magicians hat is his best album to date. Lord of the rings is good in its own right, but has a tendency to get a bit monotonous imo. Magicians hat has a lot of different elements and some great vintage sounding fantasty atmosphere.

Bo Hanssons lord of the rings. Is that the album with the hand on the cover, a drawing, and the music, is instrumentals? If it is that is much better than any of the lord of the rings movies haha, good album.

Hey, has anyone here heard of a band called "Porcupine Tree"? I hear they are pretty good.

Yea, i've heard about them ;) . in fact i saw them in concert yesterday but i didnt feel like making a new thread

they played (those i can remember)

Deadwing
Blackest Eye
Strip the Soul
shallow
Halo
Mellotron Scratch
Lazerus
the sound of muzak
Arriving somewhere but not here

encore:
Shesmovedon
Trains

that are the songs i remember at the moment. i missed signify songs (specially sever) but else it was a damn good concert!

so i stumbled upon this band Tangerine Dream, from that "deadwing review" thread, in which the guy mentions pink floyd and T.D.. I was curious, as i've never even heard of them, and found their official site, and have been listening to available full songs, and they sound really cool.

anathema were allright. but kinda boring to my ears...not my cup of tea.

ive heard alpha centauri by tangerine dream and it is damn cool then i heard some newer stuff and it was more than horrible. look out for the old stuff...

Its a shame you didnt like Anathema, i think they are a truly great band. Check out A fine day to exit if you ever feel the need..........

Tangerine Dream is ok, there seemed to be something missing, but i will give them a second listen one day.

im very excited...porcupine tree is playing right near me in july...with robert fripp as special guest.

Anekdoten? Not familiar.

I'm seeing Porc Tree in Cleveland on May 25th. I don't think there is a special guest. Cleveland is such a shit city.

yeah, PT just released a new tour date, and it just happens to be 40min from me :)
it's in this little bar/club, that i've actually never been to, but have been near many times. i wonder how they'll sound in there, hmm
