I pre-ordered the special edition of deadwing today, $30 us plus postage (better not be to much) comes with a book dvd-v version and stereo version. Im excited.

EDIT: Now Ive actually read something about the released im kinda fucked off. The special version has no extra's, im thinking of cancelling it and just getting the dvd-a version. Lava have fucked up this release big time, assholes.

ya I'm totally confused as to the whole special/alternative versions situation. it seems if you really want all the extras, you will have to pay a hell of a lot more. they should have just put it all in one package. I guess it doesn't help that I have no idea what a DVD-A or DVD-V is, or whether a DTS-formatted CD will work on my Dolby 5.1

I don't get this shit.

Well metalloid this is what i have worked out:

1: Normal version - UK and US versions US version has shesmovedon

2: Special edition - Contains a book and normail cd version. Dvd - v is mixed in 5.1 stereo and will play on any dvd player.

3: Sacd version - Comes with DTS which u need a decoder for and it also has a normal stereo version which plays on any dvd player. Also has video stuff which can play on any dvd player, as well as 3 bonus tracks.

4: Vinyl - Contains the bonus tracks

Im a little less pissed off now but Lava have made a mess of this. So i think in the end i think ill just download the bonus tracks, cuz i havent heard the in absentia dvd-a (although i will get it at some point - i gave my cd copy away). Sigh.............

And on the 7th day god greated mellotron.

Yeah that would be cool thanks. Drown with me is one of my fav songs of In Absentia. If PT castoff congs were A-sides of another band it would be the best things they had ever done.

I brought the sky moves sideways today first time ive ever seen a PT cd in a cd store here. The guy in the store was real cool about it to, i told him to check them out and he sounded like he was going to.

So I'm listening to Raindances, rather than the first 4 Camel albums, that I always listen to, and I've gotta say the song Down on the Farm is hilarious.

in my opinion, rain dances is fair;y underrated. it isnt the same and/or best lineup ofr camel, but does include one of my all time favorite bassists and vocalists: mr. richard sinclair. regardless, theres some quality tracks on it.

Another Rain Dances fan here. Sinclair is great. The cross-pollination between Camel and Caravan was beneficial to both bands. Camel never really made a "bad" album as I recall. Many of the later records didn't measure up to Moonmadness and Snow Goose, but Latimer's guitar playing is always interesting.
