rare prog from early 70s

Have heard them, don't have them. Just listened to them on iTunes yesterday and thought, wtf? Why don't I have any of this? Good shit from what I've heard.

Anyone know anything about Crack the Sky? They have a ton of their stuff at eMusic... I've never heard much about them, though.

Vintersorg ayee.. who's that? Cosmic Genesis is a good album, but my favourite is ödemarkens Son.. good shit.. Get Till Fjälls first though, and then move along the catalogue.. Good shite from Mr. V, there is. Fuck it;s hard to speak/type properly after a night out.

Thanks. Any reason why, or just a gut?

Well, it has more better songs than the other two albums... Acquiring the Taste is my favourite though.

edit: another reason.. IMO "In A Glass House" was maybe a bit too experimental, and "Free Hand" on the other hand (heh) too conventional. tPatG sits nicely between them.

Excellent. Thanks for summing it up Annt. I'll check it out.

For some awesome acid folk check out medievil obsessed Circulus. This band are really refreshing and mellow. They are a new band from the UK and have a real 70's hippy vibe. Check out their album, 'The lick on the envolope yet to be sent'

I thought they were kind of a small band but I guess they are signed to Rise Above...a doom label...anyhoo good stuff

Recent loves, anyone heard of these?

Arti + Mestieri - Italy's Mahavishnu Orchestra, and every bit as good
Aunt Mary - Norwegian, rarely mentioned, good rock-prog
Il Baricentro - Instrumental jazz-rock from italy.
Czar - comfy rock-prog
Elonkorjuu - Prog with less jazz than used to with finnish 70's bands.
Museo Rosenbach - Single shot italian band, but one of the best.
Pussy - Obscure psych-rock from '69

yep. pussy and czar are my favs of those. museo rosenbach is also fantastic.

Alright, so I want to get a caravan cd for christmas. Which would be the best one to get first? also, another album that is pretty much essential for prog? (i was thinking the vein of gentle giant or camel)

I was playing Museo Rosenbach - Zarathustra in the truck today...definitely an excellent 4 to 5 star record.

For Burning Sky...the only Caravan I really know is "In the land of grey and pink" that one's very good, if you like Canterbury with some pretty nice melodic hooks you'll love that.

Van der graaf generator - h to he who am the only one
Camel - moonmadness
gentle giant - octopus
Emerson Lake and Palmer - trilogy
genesis - selling england by the pound
steve hackett - voyage of the acolyte
pfm - per un amico

all those are absolute essentials. if you don't have them all, pick any of them.
