Which Katatonia album should I get next? I have discouraged ones. Checked out the song Teargas was thinking of getting the album with this on it. Suggestions?

Disposession and Passing Bird are amazing.

well, sorkskogen is nothing like nightingale. Stuff like sorkskogen = paatos, landberk, morte macabre, anekdoten, etc
k, i figured "it's swanö" but i guess i was wrong...but thanks for the recommendations. hate to keep asking, but which albums of those would you consider the best?

Landberk's debut album is in my opinion the best modern prog. release. The rest of their albums are good though some of the songs are a tad bit boring. Check out songs like 'Tell', 'All Around Me' and '1st of May'.
For the rest, I'd posted a link with 64kbps mp3s by Morte Macabre, Anekdoten as well as several other prog. bands couple of months back.

You know a Japanese band called Ruins?

Ruins are pretty cool. If you like them then check out stuff by Lightning Bolt and Melt Banana and maybe even Death From Above 1979.

landberk - one man tells another. Paatos - timeloss. Anekdoten - gravity. Morte macabre - symphonic holocaust.

all of these are HIGHLY recommended...ive met few who didnt like these albums if they were into progressive material at all.

i bought Nightingale - invisible, cause i'd heard a lot of good stuff about this project..i don't really care for it though. i'm really not a fan of swano's non-death vox. Unicorn - emotional wasteland is pretty corny too.

melt banana is fucking terrible

i've gotta here landberk still, joey you gotta hook me up ;)

will do.

On another note...i got a new album today. By a band called "The Works". An amazing little swedish prog/pop-psych group...similar to dungen, but sung in english...very awesome stuff. Reine fiske (landberk, paatos) plays bass and fiddle on some tracks as well...

HIGHLY recommended for anyone into the swedish wave of new prog, and anyone into damnation or Sorkskogen. (THIS MEANS YOU CTHULU!!);)

due to the semi letdown of the new mars volta...and the genius that is the new Dredg...ive come to the following conclusion...

Dredg > The Mars Volta.

this might have been different if the new mars volta had been as strong or stronger as deloused...but it certainly wasnt....but a valiant and still quite good experimental rock album.

i need to hear that dredg album, if it is indeed as wondrous as you say. frances the mute was something of a wankfest, at least the latter half. the first three tracks are solid though, deloused-quality stuff.

dream theater is a wank fest. frances the mute was a space fest. ;)

I put on frances the other day and found periods where i was waiting for it to get to the music, still a good album though.

Looking forward to hearing more dredg, sounds like a band i should ahve heard of three years ago. The singer sounds to me like the guy from depeche mode. Good band (so far).

I brought another gong album today, hope its as as thier other one I ahve, its a shame though I can only get bands later albums , when they arent rated as highly as thier earlier stuff (Camel, , Vengalis, Jarre, ect ect).

I think that Leiitmotif was Dredg's best release to this point; probably because of the kickass instrumentals and songs like Penguins in the Desert.

Btw... whoever likes Mars Volta should also try Coheed and Cambria. They might not have a release that beats De-loused but the song 'Delirium Trigger' is probably better than anything TMV has done.
