rare prog from early 70s

Good to see a classic thread go lazarus on us.

Now, to crank out some personal gain from it.

Been enjoying some Krautrock lately (Can, Neu!, and to a lesser extent, Faust), so am on the lookout for some other recommendations. I seem to remember the name Tortoise, but havn't checked them out yet (nor even know if they're good or not). Anyone a fan of the genre?

^ try amon dull II and ash ra tempel if you haven't already.

I remember Tortoise being associated with the post-rock movement. in fact, i think they influenced most post-rock bands.

I guess tortoise are post-rock, but i never really liked that genre name to begin with. They have a lot of electronic sounds going on in their music, but not usually overkill. TNT and It's All Around You are my favorite tortoise albums, very unique stuff.

thats true, they are the clear innovators of the genre called "post rock" or "art rock." cool genre, cool bands, cool music :goggly:

godspeed you! black emperor, sigur ros and mogwai happen to be my favorites...and lets not forget the japanese band, mono. they do deserve a mention too.

i am giving sigur ros another chance. last time i listened to it i wasn't impressed, now i like it much better.

most prog heads know these records, but ill mention them anyway, because they deserve it.

that actually wasnt directed at you. your recommendations were good. it was meant for the riverside fanboys. were cool detric, unless you WANT to be on the NFU shitlist...

Hey, don't pass this up so quickly detric. It's pretty fun to be on that list...though nfu always pusses out in the end.
