Like "In a Glass House", it doesn't imediately click. But it's one of their best. Can't go wrong with GG 70-77. I even enjoy most of "Giant for a day!"soundave said:*bump*

I need an opinion or two on
Van Der Graaf Generator - Present and Aerosol Grey Machine.
...good albums, or just bookends?
To spite you, obviously.NineFeetUnderground said:why dont you branch out a bit? why buy 8 VDGG albums and leave so many other bands untouched in the meantime?
you guys do the same thing with gentle giant too, from what i can tell.

Amazon keeps recommending Caravan, but no...just to spite YOU.
edit: Ok, good point, I'll put my money elsewhere.

soundave said:I'm assuming the GG reference was directed towards me, but maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, truth be told, it's mostly about what I can get easily. It's not ideal, but given my budget and my tastes (in other words, as a stay at home dad, I don't have a ton of money, but constantly want new music), I get the majority of my music on eMusic. It's not vinyl. I don't get the artwork and all that. But, imo, discovering a band is about the music. Besides, it's legal, and compensates the artists, which is important to me.
But, I am limited by what they have, though they're always expanding. They happen to have Gentle Giant and Popol Vuh, for example. So I focus in on that and I keep scouring to see what else they have. I'd love to get more variety, but I'm sort of stuck digging deeper into artists they have, hoping they'll pick up some new ones along the way. It's actually what happened with Popol Vuh. They were on my watch list for a while before eMusic picked them up.
Anyhow, maybe that explains things a bit.
