Rate my (first) Blackmore recording

Great sounding:headbang: I'd like to hear how a tubescreamer would affect the sound... but apart from that it's a really BIG tone.

I'm pleased you got your onyx and that its working for you:)

Thank you! I'm finding it hard to believe everyone likes it so much, I guess I am my own worst critic :zombie:

I've actually used a tubescreamer in some of the clips, and I decided to take it out for the last couple.

It adds gain and smoothens it out a bit...but it also thins the high end a bit. It doesn't do much to tighten up the sound though. I decided to take it out, because I wasn't going for smooth...sounded grittier without.

Haha wow...put an OD in front of an ENGL and it sounds like a 5150. I never would have guessed.

Fair enough though, I appreciate the input. I personally like the 5150esque tracks better, more saturation going on. In any case, chances are I will record using both settings and then figure out which I like best.

Maybe using the "ENGL" (no OD) sounding one on one side and the "5150" (with OD) sounding one on the other side can be great also.

You should definitely try and post this for us (and you as well) to compare :

-L100 R100 ENGL setting

-L100 R100 5150 setting

-L100 ENGL R100 5150

I matched their EQs so they are virtually identical, except for the gain and saturation supplied by the OD.

When I don't EQ them the same, they sound very different:
