Yeah, not a big fan of the kick.... kinda hollow sounding, doesn't sound bad in the faster double bass sections though. Can't hear the bass very well, but guitars and especially the vocals sound pretty great. Some of the vocal melodies sort of remind me of Protest The Hero...

Cheers guys! Overwhelmingly positive feedback so far. I was expecting this to be seen as a total failure on my part, so thank you...

@Catharsis: We sorted out your credit on this CD, so you'll be appearing on the sleeve. Thanks a heap for the reamps once again.

@poida: Cheers man, a lot of getting the vocals to sit is in getting the mix to sit around them. I always start from the ground up and add vocals last.

@KeithTidd: Nice! Actually The Ascendancy was the record I was referencing off the entire time I was mixing/mastering this. Towards the end I threw some EOH in there. My goal was to get it sounding like those two records, but unfortunately for that to happen the raw tracks have to be a lot more on the ball.

@Dan: I've dealt with Mav's recorded vox before, so I knew this was roughly what to expect. He really brings the Trivium vibe, for better or worse.

@JoshuaLogan: That's cool man, I don't think it's my fave kick sound either, but the important thing was that it worked for the material. I tried some fatter and splattier kicks, but it would either be too muddy or not cut well enough.

@Chryst: Thanks dude.

@Dodo: I'm glad to hear that! Catharsis definitely did good on this. He did a few different versions and provided the best reamps I had for this (we ran through about 12 different iterations with different people). It still took quite a bit of EQ in the mix to get them to sit right, but the starting point was good!
