While its nice to finally see some activity on the board that doesn't involve bashing one another, smoking crack, politics, religion, anal sex, and/or frog baseball, this reunion gossip is getting out of control.

I really have to laugh at how Anthrax support comes in waves. A few years ago, it was the "in thing" on Blabberballs and Metal Sludge to like Anthrax, then leading up to WCFYA, it was the "in thing" to bash them. Then in 2004 it began to be "cool" to like them. Well guess what, the same thing is happening here. It seems like there are fairweather fans who slag Benante and Ian, but would buy a reunion ticket and tell them how much they love them after the show in a minute.

Everybody has right to voice their opinion on the UNCONFIRMED REPORTS of an Anthrax ATL era lineup at Ozzfest 2005. I'm not saying that the rumors are false, I'm not saying they are true. But right now, NO OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT HAS BEEN MADE BY ANTHRAX. All I've been reading are barbs going back and forth between ATL and WCFYA era fans, pot shots taken at the band (namely Charlie and Scott), and lots of guessing and speculation. Some people make valid points... for instance, its entirely possible that if anything is going on it may be kept silent:

1.) Contractual reasons (negociations, gag order clause, etc)
2.) Not wanting to jump the gun and have a bigger P.R. mess
3.) Respect for the current lineup
4.) Yadda, yadda, yadda

Then you have people speculating on John Bush's final show(s) with the band and others talking about throwing out their Anthrax collections. What's that going to prove???? You already spent the money. If someone bought all my albums, and then threw them away out of spite, I could care less. I'd rather spend my energy pleasing fans that are still fans.

Everyone knows here that Anthrax is my favorite band... more than KISS, Maiden, and the Beatles. Hell, I've got it tattooed on my leg. But you know what??? I don't live and die by the choices that any of its members make about their careers and lives. Do I want the WCFYA lineup to remain intact?? You betcha... that's my favorite. Would I still go see the ATL lineup??? Why not? That's the lineup that I first heard at 8 years old.

But c'mon... two of the bands principals are getting hung in the court of public opinion, and based on what... Blabbermouth and some European promoters??? Rumor and speculations, why waste the time and energy?

If Charlie and Scott fire each other and tour with two Anthrax lineups like Stephen Pearcy and Ratt, and Scott tours with a polka band and Charlie has a swing band, it won't stop me from going to work, eating dinner, and paying my bills. An ATL reunion isn't the end of the world.

I'm not knocking people for being die hard fans and for being emotionally invested in the band and the music.... I am too. But everybody needs to calm down until a statement is made.

I leave you with this:
Would you go talking about a new job in front our your peers and boss before you had a firm offer in writing??

I can see what you´re talking about.
But you know, I´m against all those reunions and reliving "the past glory", because it´s just ridiculous-for instance, Iron Maiden were the exception because 1) Bruce Dickinson is far better singer than Blaze (in comparison to Anthrax this is completely vice versa), 2) they kept Janick Gers in the band, 3) Bruce Dickinson still sings Bayley tunes and sings them better (I doubt Joey would sing any John´s song but respect to him if he will, I don´t think so) I´m just afraid Anthrax is going to erase the Bush era just like Judas Priest are now trying to convince the fans that the Ripper years never existed (which is ridiculous as well) I know it brings money and they have to live off something. We also know that in music business, the quality of the music doesn´t mean anything and these days, the reunions are in. But Anthrax reunion will be just a ridiculous theatre, especially when the band is stronger than ever before and after all the comments Scott and Charlie made on their ex-bandmembers, how the fuck are they going to face the fans who remember all the statements and interviews? The magic is back-my ass.
The reunion is bound to happen, it´s clear, statement or no statement. Your reasons why they keep silent are obvious, I personally would pick up the first one.
Come on I don´t want to sound like a whiny bitch, I´m not going to throw anything out of the window and I´m gonna give the reunited Anthrax a chance, I´ll even consider buying an album when there´s one.
I just have serious doubts if this is a good career move for the band.

Johnnie... I agree about Maiden, and I agree about giving everything a chance... but...

1. No one has said "The magic is back"
2. No one has even mentioned an album

The carriage is being put in front of the horses, and no one even knows if there are horses yet.

John was their singer for longer than Joey was.

I agree.... and I love John... he's an awesome singer and an awesome person. When my Mom died he helped me get some perspective on things from when he lost his Dad.

I never denied that I'm a WCFYA era proponent. I'm just saying that everyone should cool off until a member of the band (any current member) makes a statement.

If all the threads were bullshit, Mr.Wu would be the first one to say that it´s bullshit.

It's happening. There's no denying it. I am just waiting on them to say whether or not if it's permanent or a farewell tour. I KNOW it just CAN'T be a farewell tour because if they did that, you'd think they'd perform with both singers and do both eras of material. It's just a nostalgia tour. I just hope to god they continue on with John after Ozzfest ends. A new album with John on vocals is badly needed...WCFYA rules and it needs a proper followup. They've built so much momentum with this one, it sucks so much that they just might be ruining it all.
Now all of the Ozzfest young kids are going to remember the Anthrax with Joey's cheesy ass at the microphone and probably never check out the John Bush era material.

I'm not arguing the validity of the rumors.... I'm talking about all the speculation and slagging on the band. People are reading volumes into the following statement: "............"

They're getting words put in their mouths, and they haven't even said anything yet.

You even agreed... silence could be due to red tape reasons.

So following the prevailing logic on the board (not saying its you or Deege), I'll take that opportunity to speculate that the tour will feature everyone who has ever played in the band on the same stage. It'll be great... we'll have a five part guitar harmony on the intro to "Indians."

I'm not trying to pick fights or belittle anybody... just pointing out the witch hunt that seems to be forming.

Yes... I too want to see more John Bush material and touring. I've avoided Ozzfest like the plague because it catered to nu-metal for far too long, but I'll go this year to see Anthrax and Maiden. What if it is an ATL reunion? I doubt Charlie and Scott would go out there and play if they thought they'd be embarrassed by someone else's performance. They're not Motley Crue.

Besides... I'm not knocking young true metal fans... I was jamming with a 14 yr old who was riffing on Harvester of Sorrow in a guitar store on Saturday... but have you seen the kids at Ozzfest?? Just watch that lame show on MTV... it's still a baggy pant, purple hair convention. Nothing opitomizs "Packaged Rebellion" more than the image that is being sold to them. It warms my heart when I finally see some young kid wearing his BLS colors or a Priest shirt.

May I quote something here? Ok! Here it goes:
"Many folk like to know beforehand what is to be set on the table; but those who have laboured to prepare the feast like to keep their secret; for wonder makes the words of praise louder."

I think you understand...

Thanks Greg.

It's like the NHL lockout.. D'OH.. cancellation... I agree in philosophical terms with Deege and Johnnie (i.e. being Bush supporters), but I disagree on the hard line (i.e. the enormous sh!tstorm being launched at Charlie and Scott).

Wow.... I think you just boiled my longwindedness down to the best possible statement!!!!

Dude... that was a very good call.

I don't mean to badmouth Charlie and Scott. It's their band and they can do what they want with it. I just don't have to like it. It's just really bugging me because they are a band I've really supported and have seen live more than any other band. It's just a bad few months for me...I saw one of my favorite guitarists get murdered onstage 20 feet in front of me, ending any possibility of one of my favorite bands reuniting (which, of course, is less important than the man's life itself), then I hear rumors of my favorite live band (Anthrax) going into nostalgia mode and possibly forgetting the past 12 kickass years, and then another one of my recent favorite bands, Sevendust's guitarist leaves the band. Things suck lately. I mean, this reunion could be a good thing, but it could also be a bad thing. I just want to know what it means for the current lineup. I hope it's not an end to John Bush fronting them forever. I hope it's a one-time reunion. It would suck if Anthrax, as we know it, ends after this South American run.

"My name is Matt Foley, I am a motivational speaker. I'm overwieght, I'm three times divorced and I live in a VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER"

Man, those aren't real problems to be bothered by. Did you personally know Dimebag? If you did I'd feel a liitle more sympathetic to your plight. Does the Anthrax reunion affect your day to day life? Is Sevendusts parting w/ their guitarist keeping you from paying your bills and brushing your teeth in the morning? No. They are entertainers. Far removed from you. Christ I had a lady die in my fucking arms 2 years ago after a car wreck and I wasn't near as busted up inside about that as you are about this.

As I already wrote, yesterday, in another thread here:

"Here's my opininon on this whole thing: Who the fuck cares? The earth will continue to revolve and we will all go on with our lives just like before. Sure, some of us may be bitter or feel resentment for not being informed earlier but hey, ask yourself how would you have acted if you were in the band's place? I'll continue following Anthrax and I'll support them when they release something or come to play up here but I'm not going to get bent out of shape for this change of singer - it's not like someone died is it now??... There are worse things in life..."

For the record I didn't bash the band, I prefer John and Joey kicks ass too.
